When you finally perfected the Yorkshire pudding?
I made them tonight and they were like amazing! Massive fluffy things they were (Nigella who?? ) this is the 5th time my Yorkshire puddings have been perfect now.
Does this mean I am finally a proper grown up adult? Like a rite of passage making the perfect Yorshire pudding?
Can you make them? Or is there something else you make that you make that always turns out well

My mum and dad split up when i was 11 and my dad expected me to cook a sunday dinner when we stayed with him. In fairness i did a good job and my yorkshire puddings where pretty good as was my roast potatos but it was trial and error.
I havent made yorkshires for years now so im sure ive lost the knack |

Ooh well, here goes;
1 cup of plain flour?
1 cup of milk
4 eggs
Pinch of salt
Whisk it up into a batter
Heat your oiled non stick oven tin in the oven until it's smoking and add the batter, cook for about 15/20 minutes and they should be perfect |

Seven years ago I had to go gluten free. Made my first successful ones soon after. Bloody gorgeous. Only took 42 years |

Seven years ago I had to go gluten free. Made my first successful ones soon after. Bloody gorgeous. Only took 42 years "
Oooh how do you do them if you don't mind?
My daughter in law is on a gluten free diet and would love to make these for her

However true yorkshire puds need beef dripping as they used to cook under the meat in the oven. |

This would be the recipe for the actual yorkshire pudding mix.
2 heaped serving spoons of flour
2 eggs at room temperature
Milk and water mixed (even parts)
2 tbsp beef dripping
salt.
not everyone is a lover of beef dripping so reduce as required
also experiment with adding dripping into the mix at different levels of table spoons used.
yorkshire pud has a total different taste when dripping is added to it.
yorkshire pudding was used as an extra as meat was always scarce. |

This is definitely a skill that I've perfected too recently. Very proud of my Yorkshire Pudding making skills.

Is it weird that I find them all a bit..meh? I only use them for mopping gravy up and I can do that with bread and butter.
I do make very good pancakes though. Everyone in our house is happy to let me stand there with the frying pan, doling them out one after another. By the time they have had they're fill, I'm sick of the sight of them!

I have never tried to make them, Aunt Bessie does a good job but they look simple enough if the batter stands do I then need to restir does the flour sink? |

You should use the recipes ive suplied and get cooking.
As until youve made them and tried them your not a true yorkshireman, Though if someone makes them from the proper recipe that can be excused.
Both recipes are for good times and bad times in the yorkshire area where food was scarce.
There is one other recipe that uses less milk and more water for yorkshire puddings.
Im looking forward to all your replys on the proper way of cooking yorkshire puddings.

Yorkshire pudding should be made in a single large square tin, then is sliced into oblong pieces and served with gravy as a first course. It is intended to fill up the family, especially the children, before the meat and veg is served, as the meat was always in short supply.
