We've just had work done on the house and putting stuff back together whilebcleaning I came across a frame that belonged to my Dad.
Very unusual I think. It has figures of a lady and Gentleman dancing cut intricately from foil against a black background, the frame is reported to have been made by the polish who were held at a nearby POW camp and the frame it's housed in is supposed to be window from a war plane.
It was given to my parents as an engagement present by the landlady of their local when Mum commented on how pretty it was, there were a few on the wall different shapes.
Not sure if the story is true, I know there were a few Polish POW camps in my locality but it is interesting none the less.
Just got me wondering what weird and wonderful objects you have inherited or had pass down? Weirder the better  |

This is incredible thing to own .. 
First which comes to mind for me is a very old fashioned pepper mill.. it has a little drawer at the bottom of wooden cube.. where all the grind spices fall in..
In my possession now and all I know is that my Grandma got it from her fathers house. It must be nearing 70+ years when I think of it, or more. Depending how long my Greatgrandpa had it for. I still use it to blend Christmas cookies spices. |

A brass miniature toilet 
It's actual purpose is an ashtray from back in the day when weird and wonderful ashtrays were a thing. It's something that always stood out to me growing up so when I moved in to my own place, my dad engraved my name on the top and wrapped it up as a Christmas present. It's the last thing I have with his writing on it and even though it's not worth anything, to me it's priceless. |

A full set of dinner plates that my Grandfather “borrowed” from the Officers Mess. Quite a famous squadron. Plus his medals.
Hundreds of mugs dating back from the 80’s where my Grandma asked people to send them to her from over the world. Some outstanding levels of tat and a huge storage issue but wouldn’t part from them. Think they were left to me for lols to be honest. |

I have a heirloom but I haven't received it yet,my aunty is leaving me her 4 bedroom house on the sea front in sussex and car and all the furniture when shes left this world,I had to sign the paperwork many years ago and I hope I don't receive it to soon |

Have my Grandad's medals which the family decided as the eldest Grandson I should have.
Only other things which I was able to choose when both my Grandad and an elderly Aunt died are keepsake/memory things more than anything....my Grandad's bread board is one, it's plain, simple and unremarkable and not even sure how long he had it, but was always there on the kitchen table as long as I can remember
Then from my Aunt's I have a set of dominoes for the blind which I used to play with my Uncle and the cribbage board that went with it and also a money box that is probably Victorian or older.
None of them are worth anything as far as I know but all have personal meaning/memories associated. |

I have my grandfathers war medals because I always accompanied him to his Remembrance parades and Scots Guard Association meets. I also have his bedside travel alarm clock. Still works too!
My nana’s pearls and a brooch she wore when going somewhere fancy.
I also have my step-dads camera which I display rather than use.

This is the thing isn't it, it isn't the monetary value connected to the items it is the memories and people connected
I love the picture, I used to gaze at it as a baby and my Dad used to hold me up to look at it, I can remember being in his arms and looking at the picture. My Mum told me that he was insistent I have it when he passed away
My brother had it for years after Dad passed but Mum made sure it got to me because she knew it was what Dad wanted. |

I've got a large diamond and sapphire ring, earrings and necklace set which was given to my great grandmother by her American army sweetheart during the war. It's been passed down to the eldest daughter on their birth (not death) so technically is now my daughters 5 generations on. It is absolutely stunning but ive only ever worn it twice! |

Ive had bits and bobs over the years.. half my family is irish the rest cypriot so ive all sorts from a musket gun to a 4 foot greek figurine with a lenis that looked like a third leg. However not being a fan of tat ive got rid of it all... apart from one thing.
A Antique ouija board from a irish uncle that i never never got on with at all.. we hated one another, it had a note saying ill see you soon.

I have a huge family and by the time it gets to me, my inheritance is the bits that were probably going to the charity shop anyway.
When my Grandad passed, I got his vinyl. Well chuffed with that. No heirlooms unless you count a first pressing of Karma Chameleon which I’m keeping. |

Yes, it's really interesting, i should use it to do that part of the family tree.

It's a Victorian platinum setting with 3 large diamonds cut in a very old fashioned way. It's insured on its own because of its value. I used to wear it, but when I had to start using the chair, it would get in the way so I stopped wearing.
I also have many other original pieces of hers.
My Dad has a Grandfather clock with a mercury weighted pendulum that used to stand in the jewellery shop where it was used for customers to set their pocket watches by. We took it on the Antiques Roadshow for valuing many years ago. |

Grandfather's parents owned a farm in Kings Lynn and the brasses were from when he use to take his shirehorse to the fairs.
I work in aviation but civilian, uncle worked in military aviation. He just asked if I wanted the bits so I said yes please |

Hubby’s grandma saved all her money as a seamstress because she didn’t want to get married. When she met his grandad she decided to spend the money she’d saved on a piano.
Hubby and his dad both learned to play on it, and it’s ours anytime we want to get it |
