Lunchbox as a kid and you realise your mum has made you the worst ever packed lunch.
Mine was a banana and marmite sandwich. I mean seriously, what kind of sadist was she?
What was your worst ever lunch? |

I was never allowed to have chip or crisp sandwiches Lol - my Mum would have gone mad.
I had packed lunch in senior school as I didn’t like the dinners - my sandwich of choice was always - brown hovis bread with marmite and grated cheese. |

Great when they're fresh but after half a day sat in a sweaty lunchbox they lose their appeal |

Jam sandwiches used to be a regular... which are great if you eat them after they've just been made. After sitting in a lunchbox wrapped in clingfilm for hours? A soggy mess where the bread was disintegrating into a sort of glutinous sweet paste. |

Marmite and banana sounds fucking awful
Mum made her own bread every day and I always had doorstop size cheese and pickle sandwiches. I wanted shop bought sliced white bread like all the other kids. She also baked cakes and biscuits, and I would stare longingly at everyone's penguin bars and kit kats. Looking back I obviously now realise how lucky I was to have healthy home-made food, but back then I just wanted to be normal

My Mum always used to ask me and give me options which meant I never really had a bad packed lunch as it depended what I fancied at the time. I don't think she ever just put anything in that she expected me to eat |

Never had packed lunch but always hate at the school canteen . The food was generally fine but on one occasion , when I was 7, we were served sheep brains ( I'm not British ), it being a catholic school run by nuns you generally tend to behave, but alas I was so appalled that whilst trying to eat the first mouthful I threw up , mouth shut trying to contain it ... so it came through my nose
Enjoy your lunch |

I heard a story about a mother who made her son varied nutritious sandwiches every day for school lunch. After a few weeks she asked him if he was liking his sandwiches and he told her he swopped them every day with a girl in his class for her jam sandwiches. |

"We lived off peanutbutter and mighty white bread "
Ah the trusty PBJ
My youngest took these every day for her entire 12 years of school. Talking to her yesterday she tells me the canteen in work isn't open due to covid. So what's she been taking for her lunch? A good old PBJ |

My mum always asked me what I wanted but suggested a few variations now and then just so I didn't eat the same thing.
I always had a decent lunch but I've never been a fussy eater (variety is the spice of life and all that). |

Hated tuna butties because they made everything smell of fish (even though I like tuna) and the bread went soggy.
My main concern was that she'd not given me one of the apricot yoghurts because I only wanted to eat the strawberry or raspberry ones!
We also used to get those drinks in a long, slim plastic bottle that you twisted a little piece off the top to drink. Probably full of crap but they were nice |

I guess she just thought it was easier that way and knew I'd definitely eat it. I was a bit spoiled I guess.
Funny thing is I can't make a decision for the life of me these days! |

I never had a problem, but it was always basic.
I used to swap with my best friend. She had fresh salad sandwiches, home made bread, sometimes home made (from the goat!) goat's cheese.
She liked my Vegemite or peanut butter sandwiches better |

From quite an early age I was allowed to make my own so no complaints. Always white bread, usually peanut butter, ham or chicken. I’m a veggie now but not because of my sandwiches.
I also used to make my son’s lunch box with him and we ended up making some for his mates as well ! |

Mine was a banana and marmite sandwich. I mean seriously, what kind of sadist was she?
What was your worst ever lunch?"
Sandwich spread so thin that it was barely visible and a bottle of squash so weak it was clear.

I used to live opposite a woman who made everything herself to eat, other than using tinned food. Unfortunately she was a terrible cook and her bread came out like bricks. My daughter was friends with her 3 children - they all had packed lunches that were very healthy but were dreadful. All 3 kids used to swop their lunches for everything mass produced and sugary. Whenever her youngest daughter came to play with my daughter she used to steal all the biscuits and sweets and take them home with her in her pockets and down her knickers. |
