As a very small child I wanted to be an astronaut. If I'm totally honest with myself, I still do, and if I ever had the cash I'm off!
Then my next big thing was wanting to be a racing driver. I had a crack at it, and even ended up being mentored by an ex-F1 racer and Le Mans winner. But then come the inevitable day when the guy in the other car gets handed a load of cash to move up, and well, you're broke. It's like being an alcoholic. The dopamine hit is addictive, and the desire never leaves you, given the circumstances you'd relapse. I've been clean for a number of years. (Oh, and that other guy? Got to F3000 and went headlong into the barriers at Hockenheim at 180mph! Maybe my straw wasn't as short as I'd thought)
Then, a pilot... raised the cash to learn, and started on Helicopters. 9/11 killed the job market at the time, and a friend who was an awesome pilot died flying the type of helicopter I was learning on and as I had a kid on the way, parked the idea.
But besides those, I wanted to be a photographer, and can say I achieved that, though its barley a significant part of my job now. When it was good it was very good, but it's going the way of the blacksmith now. |

I wanted to be a mechanic - so I could work on my own cars - I planned on having a McLaren F1, Ferrari F40 and various other cars from the same era that I had posters of on my bedroom wall.
I didn't achieve it but did work in a body shop (not the smelly soap kind) for a few years - It was the worst pay, with the least breaks, longest hours and took the biggest physical toll on my body than any other job I'd had - was my favourite by far tho! |

The Catholic church is so mysoginistic and backward looking, that being a woman is a bigger impediment than not being a Catholic! |

I wanted to travel the world like an adventurer from some fantastical novel, meeting new people with a rucksack and a hooded cloak for company (and maybe a handkerchief or two).
In a way I achieved that (not the hooded cloak though) and as beautiful as the world turned out to be, I realised my dream of freeing it from tyranny was just that, a dream.
So now I sit in the porch and smoke my pipe, listening to the laughter from the village pub and think of all the dragons I didn’t get to slay.....whilst fiddling with my ring. |

Who said I'm grown up?
I still play with cars, still paint, draw & color in, still play music, still play with ponies, still play on my bike, still climb trees, still dance, sing & shout, still go on the slides, still basically do what ever i takes the notion to do... I'm not growing up
Other than owning a riding school/trek centre which I haven't got yet...I didn't have any.

Wanted to be a hairdresser, trained became fully qualified but gave it up not long after as realised it was more of a hobby.
I also remember thinking I would be retired by the time I was 40.....
