I don't know. But people are also meant to be more peaceful around round table. No corners to pick who is more important
Soup wants to be treated equally wherever the spoon goes. |

Because with a round dish the flavour is evenly distributed all around the dish and is even.
With a square dish the flavour gets lost in the edges of the dish and thus, some flavour is lost.

"Are you pushing the spoon away from you to scoop up the soup?
No way, that feels weird.
It's the "proper" way. Means you don't spill on your fancy garments doesn't it "
I know, but the initial movement is moving away from your mouth, which defies logic. |

"Why does soup taste better out of a round bowl than a square one, I mean it’s still the same soup, but only the bowl has changed ?!"
Its scientific, a surface area and conical shape of a bowl changes the thermal loss rate and maintains tempature which activates flavour within the ingredients. Hope that helps |

"Are you using a proper soup spoon too?
It’s just a universal spoon, same one I have cereal with.
Do you wash it between meals? "

"Everything matters when eating soup, and drinking tea.
Wrong glaze, wrong shape, wrong thickness, wrong anything and it's ruined.
It's all in the mind.

"I just dip the bread into the saucepan of soup when it’s warming up. Then I eat it straight from the saucepan with a spoon burning my mouth.
I love soup "
