And the worst....
After cancelling my holiday last May I'm whiling away my time planning trips for when the country is up and running again. There are so many places I've never been and I'm struggling to choose my next holiday. Where has been your favourite and why?
Also, where has been a disappointment?
My favourite has been The Wye Valley around Symonds Yat. So beautiful and some amazing castles.
My worst was probably Blackpool. Just not my thing, although the kids loved it.
Over to you..... |

We love North Wales. His family are all from the Snowdonia area so we loved exploring all the little towns and villages in the mountains. Ruthin is a favourite hub of ours.
Worst was London. Too busy by far for us. Definitely a small doses city. |

My favourite has to be Isle of Man, missed not being able to have our annual trip there last year and doesn't look promising for this year either. There are so many hidden gems there, no matter how many times we visit there is always something new to discover.
Worst and I'm not sure if it was the place or the company Filey.
But there are so many lovely places in the UK to visit. I holiday more here than overseas

Ffestiniog railway is on my 'must do' list. |

I'm not a fan on Filey either. I got dragged there so many times as a kid |

"No 1 easily Cornwall
Bottom of the pile; The Lake District.
Went, saw left 4 days early, don't get it at all"
Oh I love the Lake District! Cornwall is nice but I prefer south Devon for the landscape and countryside. |

"Get a campervan or a motorhome and do the nc500 around Scotland
I would if I didn't have to share it with 2 kids!
Take a tent with you "
Nope! I need my alone time, as does my eldest, so we all need separate bedrooms with substantial walls for sound proofing. |

Most rural areas have their own charm. I personally favour mountains and coastlines. Cornwall is a favourite although I shall also be doing the nc500 this year, hopefully. .. |

Think it’s all down to the weather - if we had the weather like spain in our countries I doubt we leave
Was never a lover of the sun but by god over the last 2/3 years I really appreciate it. I do like touring around even bought a small caravan but when you get a few days of rain in the height of summer no wonder people fly to the sun
But my preference is to hike and see the stunning views of Ireland |

For me its a staycation , here in North Wales . Every thing i could ever want is on my doorstep .
Majestic mountains, rolling hills , long empty sandy beaches.
The history is every where. |

Due to childhood memories my favourite place is and always will be Blackpool.
North and west wales are both stunning for the beautiful scenery.
When all is back to normal I’d like to see more of the uk |

Definitely Snowdonia for me, I love the mountains and the sea, being a bit of a train enthusiast helps with all the steam railways. Also love Edinburgh, went there a few years ago when the Fringe was on, the place was buzzing. |

The Cotswolds, Cairngorms (in particular Ballater) and the Lake District (I have many happy memories of visiting the Lake District as a teenager).
When I was younger I went on "holiday" to Skegness and I absolutely hated it so that would be disappointment - the disappointment being that I had to go, not that I had any high hopes for it. |

"Cornwall would be my first choice, sorry to hear you don’t like the Lakes, I live here and love it"
My Nan lives on the Lakes and it's one of my favourite ever places. I'm consider myself very lucky to have a relative there who I can (normally) visit any time I want. |

We have rented a cottage in Rillington (North Yorks) 4 or 5 times now
Barn / Stables conversion
Easy access on the A64
Dog Friendly & Safe
A couple of pubs and a chippy
Local shop and Malton town centre a 10 minute drive away
Farmhouse bakery 5 minute drive or half hour walk
York 30 minutes one way
East coast resorts 30-60 minutes away the other
North Yorks Moors & the market towns nearby
Walks in the dales
Just loads to keep you occupied, but if you feel like a sofa / open fire kinda day you can do that too
My kind of break that |

Where I’m situated I automatically head down the way - so Cornwall or deep Devon is beautiful.
There’s a few treehouses & cabins I’ve stayed at that I continue to return to every other weekend (until covid)
However I’m from Northern Ireland - so will often venture home or up to Scotland. There’s just something so relaxing about being detached from everything - I’m talking cut your logs to heat a fire, to heat your outside bath up.
Yet to venture over to wales (to relax) but I imagine it’s very much the same, some of the places I see advertised there look incredible

Stow-on-the-wold is beautiful and very Tolkienesque, Castle Combe is idyllic and good for a potter. Depending on when you go it can be a bit pricey but there are lots of Airbnb self catering options available that aren't *too* bad. |

As for worst... it's sad to see the decline in resorts like Southport & Blackpool
I know they are suffering like a lot of other places with the decline of the high street, but it seems so nakedly evident
It brings a sadness to the towns
They just become a haven for cheap pubs, pound shops and weekend pissheads |

"What about our amazing Northumberland ? So many places to visit, worst place for me has to be Blackpool,"
Northumberland is gorgeous! Although I won't be repeating the boat trip to the Farne Islands again. Turns out I get sea sick |

The Highlands will always be my happy place, it’s where my family are and I’m really missing it, in particular the Black Isle, where my mum lives! The worst has to be Morcombe, went once as a teenager and never felt the need to go back |
