Reflection

One thing that this whole last year has provided me with is reflection. For the first time, I've really been able to identify what was wrong in my life and been motivated to change it.

I've got healthier both in my body and mind. I'm emotionally stronger than I was a year ago and ready to face things head on. I've also decided to change careers and retrain as a counsellor.

I know this year has been terrible but we need to pull as much positivity out of it as we can

What good things have come out of this for you?

I would agree with you, OP the last 12 months have been an opportunity to think what I would like to change in my life. As a result of this, I have become fitter (ongoing journey, of course) and while I have always been quite resilient, again an opportunity to become even more aware that some things we simply have no control over.

I have said good-bye to a number of people (not, not due to Covid but due to the recognition that we really have nothing in common anymore) and I have gained a couple of friends.

I guess my priorities have changed a bit, too

It is suprising how something like this shows up the people who dont give a toss for you. Cutting the ties with those people is so liberating.

Absolutely, it's definitely lesson to not to stress about the things we can't control as we can't determine the outcome. Surrounding yourself with good people is the way forward
