I'd like to place a bet (value undecided) that no-one here could wash their entire person (incl. hair) in as little water and time as my Grandmother used to. Her "stand up wash" involved a max of about 1in of water (maybe 2in on a luxury day) in the handbasin and a bar of Imperial Leather. She could be undressed, washed, towel dry and re-dressed in under 5mins. Waste not, want not (plus the house was fucking freezing so you'd be insane to dilly dally). On the few occasions our 'leccy or hot water has gone off, I've been reminded what can be achieved with a bit of water heated on the gas stove and a bar of soap |

Always shower in the morning, in summer maybe before bed to. I like to have a long, hot bath at least once a week at the end if the day.
Our shower wasn't working for a few months last year, it was an absolute nightmare. I had to use the sink in the morning, no way did I have time to have a bath. I did fill it up though |

It is absolutely disgusting that anyone thinks it’s acceptable not to wash at least daily. Apart from having no self respect, clearly they have no respect for others who interact with them. I put the effort into making sure my personal hygiene is as it should be however on a daily basis I’m subjected to colleagues and customers who think it’s acceptable not to bother. They think that people don’t notice, people do notice! |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
I have to wash my hair every day. Its so fine and gets flat and greasy otherwise. So I shower daily, in the morning.
However, having read up on skin microbiomes, I don't wash my entire body with soap. Just the secretionary glands bits (armpits and groin), sweat reservoirs (under boobs, under belly (I'm a bbw) and feet) and my hands and face. Unless I'm actually dirty I avoid using soap directly on my back, legs, buttocks, arms and chest.
My thinking is to let the healthy bacteria etc grow, whilst keeping the nooks and crannies that bad shit can take over nice and clean.
I probably sound like a weirdo though |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)

"It is absolutely disgusting that anyone thinks it’s acceptable not to wash at least daily. Apart from having no self respect, clearly they have no respect for others who interact with them. I put the effort into making sure my personal hygiene is as it should be however on a daily basis I’m subjected to colleagues and customers who think it’s acceptable not to bother. They think that people don’t notice, people do notice!"
I'd go into detail about depression and the effect it has on self worth and motivation, but I can't imagine it would be worth it.
What I would point out is that there are many people, especially currently, who are not coming into contact with anyone much at all at the moment. And if that's the case, then their decision not to wash on days when they're alone doesn't actually affect anyone else.
Also. Sometimes I can't move. I'm not going to shower on those days.
I still have a wash when I don't shower though. |

Every morning without fail, and if I'm going out in the evening (oh the pre covid days....) I'll shower again as well, there's no excuse for being dirty.
The only time I don't is when I'm away on exercise with the army where I've gone weeks without a shower, surviving on wet wipes washes, and I was absolutely ripe! The endex showers are the best thing in the world after that |

Nope, there is nothing worse than someone who smells of bed .
Personal hygiene should be top of everyone's list, surely? |

How bad do you smell naturally that you couldn’t go a single day without showering without everyone noticing
To answer the OP. Pretty much most days. I’m not overly precious if I don’t when I’m having a duvet day. I’m more of a nighttime showerer than morning as I like getting into bed clean. I find it helps me sleep better |

I would love to shower daily but I have bad eczema and it is painful after
In the summer the sun helps ease it,so then I do
Jesus, I sound like a right catch! |

As others will no doubt berate you for being so judgemental, I'll just say that I live on my own have been shielding, WFH since this shit show started & have bouts of depression when I cannot even get out of bed.
Showering is then not top of my list of priorities.
Who am I bothering by this? |

Top of my list is a nice cup of tea followed by some toast.

To say that "it's absolutely disgusting that anyone thinks it’s acceptable not to wash at least daily. Apart from having no self respect, clearly they have no respect for others who interact with them" is a little over the top in my opinion. Someone has given a very good reason above as to why on the odd occasion someone may not want or be able to have a shower daily.

You always get some young lad working in the supermarket who has honking B.O. though, you go past as they're stacking shelves and it's like onions marinating in vinegar.
One of the directors where I used to work had to take a bloke aside and tell him to get a wash, it was stinking the office out daily and as a lot of us ate lunch at our desks it was awful eating with that smell. Some of the girls used to leave deodorant cans in his office but he never took the hint |

If not, how often? "
Is this a wind up?
Twice a day minimum - three times if necessary.

You'll wash all the oils out of your skin and end up wrinkly before your time.

Nope. No need. Seems I'm super in the minority on here (or more honest than some).
Daily showers / baths are overkill for most people. Two or more every day are way, WAY overkill. Bad for your immune system, bad for your skin and bad for the environment.
It's easy enough to keep face, pits and bits clean without a full shower / bath every day. Once or twice a week, plus after working out and before dates / meets is more than enough. Again - for most people, unless you work in sanitation or other mucky jobs, etc. |

2-4 times a day depending
Normal showers are as soon as I am up and before bed
Then other 2 are one after a work out
And then I sometimes use one as I cheap home made cryotherapy for recovery
Set it to the coldest setting and sit in it |
