"and the spokesperson from the NRA will say its their 'right' to bear arms..
It is their right, rightly or wrongly.
"
... and until they face up the fact that that 'right' belongs in the 18th century, they will continue to see headlines like those they are waking up to today.....

funnily enough i was aware of that fact..
maybe the NRA will now move their convention to Denver as they did after Columbine..
thing is with rights comes responsibilities and as far as gun control goes thats a mess..
very sad indeed.. |

Just to add my sympathies to the people of Denver, I have close family in the area and my niece is a nurse at Denver Children's Hospital...
I'm not going to comment on the rights and wrongs of gun law in the US ..just how sad it is when random acts like this end or destry the lives of innocent people.

I fully support any initiative, which outlaws public ownership of weapons, but I also accept legislation will never deter anyone intent on committing atrocities like this….
My sympathy goes to the families and loved ones of the people directly effected by this barbaric individual.

Its a tragedy, for those that where killed and the ones that witnessed it. A nice family outing to see something they where all looking forward to seeing to end like that.
What happened to the gunman, i couldnt see anything that said what had happened to him |

The problem is people get shot where guns are not allowed. There is no ideal solution to all this but more gun control would help. |

"A suspect is in custody Diamond
So if its him then he'll at least go through the justice process "
I saw they said he had armed gear on so i assumed he didnt kill himself.
Just makes you wonder what goes through these peoples minds |

very very sad we have fiends in Denver. have spoken to them this morning and they are devestated, they think one of his work colleagues is among the injured.
as for gun control... guns dont kill.. people do.. and if they are homicidal like that then they will always find a way.
i have a friend in London who says he could buy a gun today if he wanted, no questions asked and we have quite tight gun control in UK, so there is no easy answer... |

Well if you are going to argue that frequent shootings are the inevitable consequence of a society in which many people have firearms then you need to explain why it is that frequent shootings do not take place in for examples, Switzerland and Canada.

I thought it was a publicity stunt/hoax when I read it on another forum.
Bless those who have suffered.
Don't think this thread is the place to discuss gun politics (to the above posters). |

"You cant argue with Americans on gun laws.
They are really passionate about it."
If the general US public feel that a shooting spree every few years and a dozen or so dead is a good price to pay for the freedom to bear arms then let them get on with it. I suspect that 12 families in america today have changed their _iews on the right to bear arms though.
A gun has only one purpose. It is not a tool. A hammer is a tool and has many purposes.
RIP. |
