Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
Chatting to a recently bereaved friend this evening we got onto the fact that we see each other as real family. The one you choose rather than the one you are born to.
Getting ready for the funeral next week we had a good cry but also got practical about all the things that need to be done. Things she can ask me to do that her she c/would never ask her sisters to do.
Some of my relatives are definitely in my real family but I have many more that aren't.
What's the make up of your real family? |

My 'real family' is the majority of my family, bar the couple of ass-holes, plus my best friends. They are the people I like/care about most. |

My cousin, 2 friends and my Goddaughter
Saying that I have a brother who I haven't spoken to for 3 years,no fall out just two stubborn buggers, but I know if I needed him he would be here and vice versa |

Reading though I must be really lucky, I am very close to all my family. All it takes is a call and everyone is there. I have had a few times in my life when events have taken over but along with a couple of close friends my family help me put everything together again. |

That was an interesting that made me think. I'm definately close to my Mum, and my 2 daughters, I'm pretty closer to my brother and would like to be closer to my sister, her 2nd hubby appears to have put some distance between her and the rest of the family, which she doesn't seem to want to overcome.
Of my 3 very good male friends and two very good female friends, I would consider 2 of the guys (who are actually brothers) as my brothers, although funnily enough I will talk about more personal family stuff with one of the females.

much the same as yourself and so it was with my parents too. We had loads of family and loads of "family" too.
Sometimes someone you haven't know very long can do something for you that is as loving as family. |
