Vicky's Doctor Who thread got me pondering my favourite actors and what films I think they're amazing in.
Sam Rockwell - 3 Billboards, Moon, Vice, 7 Psychopaths
Cate Blanchett - Carol, Heaven, Notes on A Scandal
Would love to hear yours. Give me something else to add to the watch list.

Isn't he great? I forgot about The Green Mile. A film that does justice to the book is a rare thing. |

Apocalypse Now and Geronimo are 2 that spring to mind "
I had to look him up although the name rang loads of bells. He's been in hundreds of films! I'll add Geronimo to my list then |

Sam Rockwell is a fantastic actor doesn't seem to get the recognition he deserves.
Karl urban is also pretty underated despite his dubious accent in the boy's,his portrayal of characters is quite varied.
John Cusack is a favourite also. |

He won an Oscar for 3 billboards, that’s recognition!
I like when actors do real people, Joaquin Phoenix In Walk the Line was pretty good.

I'm hopeless at modern actors but still have a soft spot for Michael Caine and Sean Connery, Clint Eastwood and Steve McQueen types
Would have to go a long way to beat McQueen's performance in Papillon for example |

Not forgetting The Godfather and he was also the due to retire cop in Falling Down.
One of that rare breed of actors where you see the character rather than the actor. Always liked him. |

Titz Towers, North Notts |
Stanley Tucci - he is simply superb in Conspiracy and he has a heck of a lot of talent to compete with in that.
Tom Hiddleston is always good value for money. James Cosmo is a great character actor. Tom Bell was superb in Out. |

"Gary Oldman, Ben Kingsley and Tom Hardy (in Bronson mostly)

I suppose I should watch Bronson at some point. The fact he's a real person and not a fictional character makes these things harder to watch.
Same reason I'm not watching anymore holocaust films. Enough of that evil now thanks. |

I never knew the Bronson story but it opened my eyes to a few things, a bit like Murder in the First did.
I understand the Holocaust thought, it was truly an awful time. Strangely I found myself watching a lot of this during lockdown, along with resistance movies and it made lockdown easier, as not really suffering at all in comparison. |

Bill Murray ~ everything he’s ever done.
Special favourites are Groundhog Day and ghostbusters.
The late Allan rickman ~ again I don’t recall a bad film he’s been in, I even still enjoy Robin Hood Prince of thieves occasionally.
I think it’s the case with them both that their delivery and expression was always spot on.

Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman all nailed it in Unforgiven
Tim Robbins and Freeman in Shawshank, I also really enjoyed the performance by Clancy Brown. Although saying that, I don’t think there was a single bad performance in that entire film.
John Wayne in The Shootist. I think the fact that he knew he was dying really gave his performance a gravity that he never achieved in his other films.
The Green Mile is another film I think has a truly outstanding cast, actors both main and supporting giving their absolute best. |

I Michael Sheen, he's so versatile in the same way Daniel Day Lewis is. He was brilliant in a TV drama about a man with OCD. I think it was called Dirty Filthy Love, or something like that.
I like Cate Blanchett for the same reasons, she is a chameleon. |

Loved him as the commanding officer in Memphis Belle, but he blew me away playing Edward R Murrow in Good Night and Good Luck
What a thought provoking film that is |
