Just curious but when feeling desire, attraction and/or lust, does everyone experience the following... I’m not necessarily talking about the obvious signs of arousal (genitalia, etc.), but I’m talking about a sort of burning sensation in my chest. Please, no COVID jokes, no matter how timely they may be right now.
So, I notice it particularly when I’m in times of higher libido... When I see someone or something that invokes a sensation of desire or erotic attraction, I often get a sort of burning sensation deep inside my chest, perhaps around my breastbone area. It lasts for a second or two, and I wonder if it could be a hormone being released or the after effects of a hormone.
I’ve looked up a couple of theories but I haven’t done any serious Googling yet. One article in Scientific American says something about the Vagus nerve that supposedly connects the brain stem to the chest, but that might suggest that I would feel “heartache” in my chest when upset or emotionally hurt, and I can’t say I experience those sensations particularly strongly in those situations.
It’s a curious feeling, and I wonder if it’s shared with others, or if other people have noticed it in themselves.
If you want to test the hypothesis, it’s a simple as waiting until your libido is elevated, then looking at people you find attractive, clothed or unclothed. The burning sensation lasts for a brief second or two, I think, when you first see the person, usually only for the first time. |

Ha ha, no, I’m pretty sure it’s not heartburn, or myocardial infarction or anything like that. I’ve noticed this since I was much younger, since about puberty, perhaps.
It sounds from the reactions that it might be a unique to me, though, which perhaps gives me my answer.
Don’t get me wrong, I also experience all the other things. Stirrings down below, flushing, erect body parts, etc. |

One possibility is that the heart chakra is in the middle of the chest. If we feel powerful emotions related to the ‘heart’, but the chakra is blocked energetically we get a build up which feels like the chest overheating.
I’m not sure about all the anatomical science around this, but I have experienced this. It preceded some deeper profound experiences for me.

I hadn’t thought of that, but that’s intriguing! I’m not as metaphysical perhaps, but at least I’m not totally alone. I am curious what other people experience when they feel strong feelings of lust or desire.
