Does anyone actually read profiles

We had loads that do not read the profiles. We will not meet youngsters but still have them contacting/looking at us. We altered our age setting to prevent this now. Not many read the profiles competely we found. |

Some do, most don't.
Some read them and only see what they want to see. We got criticism yesterday for not being clear about our sexuality even though it's clear in profile.  |

Half the fun is to read a profile fully.. mostly I don't fit into a potential meet but I love a good read and tend to think that a build up through messaging where both parties are leaving messages that enable the other to bounce off replies are rare but a welcome treat |

I don't think many do, as mine says I will not give out my phone number or have any messagesing apps, but I get loads of messages asking if I have Kik, WhatsApp.

Yup I do. I think those of us who come and use the forums are the ones that do.
Sometimes the pictures catch my eye but the profile itself is a bit off putting.
I did have a well thought out profile text but took it off as it really did not seem to make and difference.
Maybe I'll get round to a bit of a revamp 1 day |

Yeah I always read a profile pre messaging, kinda good manners I feel
And if I decide to message I tend to re read it to make sure I'm not missing something integral |

I always read the profiles. If i dont meet their requirements i never send a message. The only occasional messages i get are from people who want to meet straight away. No chatting, not even asking for face pics. |

"smokers" though is one of those options that lack subtlety.
I mean "won't meet smokers", does that mean it's alright as long as I don't smoke in their company?
I take these details with a pinch of salt myself (or should that be snuff).
For me the important thing is if somebody can be arsed to read a profile properly and address these potential differences when messaging, if not in the first message then at least while chatting. It separates out the "any hole's a goal" crew I think. |

They need to look at your profile to see that you are smokers. I assume that they then move happily along? |

I read profiles but can’t say I check smokers/non smokers bit. But probably as I don’t smoke but don’t care if people do.
Maybe put it on your actual profile bit if it’s a big thing for you. As you only have a couple of lines any way |

There's a lot that puzzles me about this question.
Are they contacting you or just looking? If they are just looking then how do you know they aren't reading your profile? Maybe they do read it, find out you are smokers, and then don't contact you for exactly that reason.
If you have looked at their profile and that's how you find out they won't meet smokers, could they not be equally puzzled why you (smokers) are looking at the profile of somebody who won't meet smokers?
And if they don't contact you, why does it matter that they looked at your profile anyway?
Or are you saying that they do contact you? That's different from what you describe.

Forum readers often look at the profiles of people who contributed a post. It does not mean they are going to meet them OP .Similarly people look at who is nearby or who is on line or who posted a photo out of interest and not because they are looking to meet the profile person who may not even match their own requirements . And of course the people looking with stealth mode activated are not even seen by you. |

It's clear in my profile what I'm looking for and that I really dislike pet names ie. "Babe". If I had a pound for every message I get saying "hey babes" or "what you looking for" I'd be a very rich person!

I make it a point to read every profile, usually can find a good conversation starter within a profile. Rather than just a hello lol. Plus a good way to let them know that you've actually read it aswell. Also tells you whether ur actually what they're looking for, so not wasting both ur times when messaging |

We dont smoke we use electronic cigarettes but we dont have a problem with meeting smokers,
But we do get a bit fed up of people asking,what are you into,what are you looking for, pretty sure it says the basics on our profile lol.
We are happy to answer any questions that are not on our profile. |

Most don't.
Save your energy typing out a long epic - especially a rant.
Not only is it boring - it's pointless.
There are a few profiles here that are a good read, really funny.
That's the kind of thing I want to read - I rarely believe a single word anyone says on here especially from the 'single straight ' man that's looking for a 'connection ' on his way home to his wife from a Bi Bare back gangbang.
Take it all with a pinch of salt.

Happens all the time to me. I usually turn them away stating not for me as you don't meet smokers. They either disappear or come back saying they would meet a smoker.
I either delete them or carry on chatting.
I change my profile bio like the wind just to see who reads it. Though in covid I've been more of an idiot with it out of boredom. |

We read profiles and won't get in touch unless we think we're a match, but we get loads getting in touch that clearly haven't read ours then when they find out there's an unshaved pussy in the equation, they ghost us even tho it says it at the top of our bio!! |

We always read profiles very carefully before we message. We’re aware we’re not everyone’s cup of tea and don’t set ourselves up for a fall.
Having said that, we’re often left puzzled by some that message us as we’re so mismatched they must be replying to a completely different profile.
We also look in stealth as some think looking always equates interest.

I read them.
I like getting to know people and the profile is the first step to that.
Though I have got chatting to a few people through the forums who have told me certain bits of their profile are untrue, just to out unwanted messages. Still that wouldn't ever stop me from listening to what the profile says they want... as they wrote it for a reason.
Ignoring the profile is just pointless and a waste of both parties time. |

Following on from that, I do find I don't send many messages though, as I find it hard to start up a conversation when they say, they don't like x, y, z and don't give much indication of what they 'do' like.
I end up over-worrying that I'm going to be one of these time wasters too, just sending a fairly generic message that they would have heard hundreds of times  |

The only tick box/category part I look at is height and age. Maybe they've read the text but just skimmed that bit as it's not a total dealbreaker? Or yeah, just not bothered going past the pretty pictures |
