"Anyone have any good areas for walks around the mansfield area needing to get out the house for some nice walks "
You can park at linby and walk the trail to newstead abbey , it’s about 3 miles each way we did it earlier, it’s not the most interesting walk but the abbey, lakes , waterfalls are nice when you get there |

"Have you got an OS map of your area?
I suspect many people don't own a map today. Google maps/earth etc
Maps are things of beauty and show the full picture. Google maps is good but limited. "
Ah maps! I love them. |

I love a good OS map, the paper version is good to handle and you get a digital download for when you actually need a map but didn’t bring one because you weren’t planning on getting lost.

Are you any good at folding them back up again? I can see Mr getting all tense if I fold them wrong but he never says anything, Just waits till I’m not looking and refolds them

I only use the digital downloads if I have to, as you just can't see far enough ahead on a phone. a tablet would be better but I like a proper paper map. I'm such a map nerd I will print off and laminate set routes. I've made an A4 flip map for the whole NC500 for September, hopefully.. ![](/icons/s/cool.gif) |

"I’ve actually met two lovely walking friends through Fab. I’ve done the Three Peaks with one. "
That’s really good, I’ve done three peaks, y3p , coast to coast and wild camps with people met off forums! We also setup a wild camp group for swingers on Facebook but nothing much happened !!!! |
