Has really made me think about life. I think it’s changed me too. I’m not sure what I want anymore. I’ve always been pretty sure and straight forward in what I want. I’ve stayed away from here for the past few months as I don’t think this is really for me. I don’t want a relationship either. I actually like working from home and not going out much which is worrying as i’m usually very social! I’m mostly positive but have had quite a few wobbles lately!

Just interested in how it’s affected others really.

I've found it endlessly hard and if anything it has reaffirmed for me that I absolutely am living my life the way that makes me happiest as I miss it so much when it is taken away.

I think it's similar for everyone, especially single people living alone. We've all had time to ourselves, and self reflection tends to kick in at some point.

Being involved in this lifestyle tends to go in peaks & troughs anyway, but during lockdown I feel as thought everything has been put under the microscope and often we seem to want to look elsewhere for answers.

The key is finding your tribe within the circles you've chosen to circulate. I also recommend not having too much of a set agenda about what you want (within your own guidelines) as this is prohibitive and leads to dead-ends.

Lockdown has changed all of us I'd suggest. Some not for the better.

Yeah that last sentence pretty much sums it up. I’m not unhappy by any means, I think it’s just really made me think about life. Could be to do with turning 50 too!

For me, it’s been transformative in many ways, and I’ve used the time to work on myself, but it’s also been extremely lonely at times, and I’ve struggled with being single. It’s made me realise how much I appreciate intimacy and connection.

Yes true. Although I’ve never been “in” this lifestyle really. I’m not alone I have a wonderful family around me, a bit of alone time would actually be nice! I’m definitely missing that.

It's been up and down for me, definitely had times reflecting on life in general and where I feel I'm at and heading.

I am sure many whether single or in a relationship will have had similar contemplations.

I'm taking it as just another journey, is it the one I hoped for no, but it's lead to other prospects which wouldn't have happened normally. I am holding onto the social side in my heart though as that's a big part of me and utilising my drive for adventure into other projects instead x

I've done a lot of self reflection in this period OP, and for me it's clarified things, made me realise who and what are important to me, and who I've been wasting time and energy on with little in return.

I've certainly had moments of sadness and loneliness, but I've got some wonderful people in my life who have wobbled my head and pulled me through those times, sometimes kicking and screaming, but they've got me through. Overall I'm feeling very positive about the future, wherever it may lead me.

I despise working from home though

I’ve mostly been glad to be single throughout this if I’m honest. It’s allowed me to focus on those I need to focus on and not mooching about missing someone I’d be unable to see.

I’ve not really missed arranging meets and that either.

I think there is a danger I could quite happily go full on hermit.

Yes, this is what I have found. Prior to Covid, I didn't realise that I missed intimacy, probably because I kept myself busy, but being alone for long periods does give you time to reflect on what you want or miss.

I've always enjoyed my own company which is lucky since I've been home alone for 10 months - that said, this is getting a bit much now even for me.

Craving touch, human contact, love, affection, someone to wake up with, someone to share things with, talk to.....I had a conversation with a saucepan the other day.

I’ll keep this short: my life has hardly changed much at all as what lockdown brought to millions (mostly staying in and hardly any contact with others) has been my normality for over a decade.

If anything it made it even worse as I had to school my extremely anxious SEN kid and had to wait on my (now) working-from-home husband and my kid 24/7.

Oh anf if anyone wants to ask about mental health... what mental health?

I've not really focused on covid last year, it's only just starting to wear me down now. As a blasé positive person feeling how I finally do now, it's made me realise how many have felt for a very long time.

For me, last year was a discovery of self, learning about myself, feeling new emotions and finding special people.

This last year during covid has been both hard and amazing at the same time.

I've met a couple of amazing people just before it all began and those friendships have made my time during it all not just bearable but very positive.

Things change though and move on, its worn people down to the point that its hard to cope with things that would otherwise be quite normal.

It has been people rather than covid that has made me realise what I want from life and found out a lot more about myself than I ever realised before.

Feels good (the wrong word I know) that most of the world is now experiencing the isolation/ etc. that a lot of people do in 'normal' times, and knowing that they mostly aren't coping with it.

Sort of a relief that now other people feel it too.

Not so much that they are feeling crap, more a kind of group feeling that we're all in this crap together.

Yes. I felt it this time. Not so much last time x

I think I have switched to autopilot now, I'm just trying to keep going. If I stop to think too much about it, it won't be good. Somewhere down the line its going to come out, but for now its about getting through the days.

"

Yes I agree.

"I've not really focused on covid last year, it's only just starting to wear me down now. As a blasé positive person feeling how I finally do now, it's made me realise how many have felt for a very long time.

For me, last year was a discovery of self, learning about myself, feeling new emotions and finding special people.

So have your wobbles, get some fresh air when you can, this too shall pass.

For sure the last 9 months has caused me to rethink a lot of things. I needed to reinvent the work I do, I had to get used to everyone being at home nearly ll of the time, when I am used to spending most of my time alone.

I was confronted by the very real possibility of losing people close to me, particularly my parents, which led me to much more caution than feels natural for me, as fears for others mortality determined my behaviour.

My libido all but disappeared and I had come to the conclusion that I would just embrace celibacy and recycle my sex toy collection

However in the few days between Xmas and New Year I found my libido erupt again like a volcano. So I’m rethinking celibacy as a realistic option

"This last year during covid has been both hard and amazing at the same time.

Oh yes for me it has had plenty of good points. Spent more time outdoors with the kids. Just seeing my small community pull together and all the help they are offering the elderly etc. I’ve got to know the neighbours a lot better. It’s not all been bad x"

This is true for me too

Hey lovely

It started off as a complete rollercoaster for me, I didn't know if I was coming or going and it took it's toll. Things have settle over time but the last few months have definitely made me reflective. I've had a wobbly few days but have a very good support network thankfully. I've made a plan for this year that'll work around the current situation which has definitely helped settle me.

Baby steps. There's nothing wrong with a wobble every now and then

It's really amplified how lonely I feel. It's made me feel worse about myself in general. And it's made me really quite fearful that I'll never find my happy ever after. However I also know I'm lucky. I still have my job and haven't lost anyone I love.

For me, i used to run at 110%... then life stopped. I kinda liked at first and embraced it

But now i feel aimless, lost, full of procrastination with zero motivation for anything except sitting on my arse. Even conversations are hard, with nothing to talk about

I think going to the gym is my rock at the moment

Jesus... mine?

Mine has literally been about friendships.

They've held my hand, got me through.

Family has been quite disappointing. I've spoken to my dad maybe 3 times and each time it's been me making contact.

Had 1 vid call with my son, although we message every couple of days.

I've learned the friends I have are above and beyond anything I could have imagined.

I've learned that romantic relationships aren't for me. It may be something I've yearned for, a loving relationship where I'm the centre of someones world. Where we worship each other and would die for each other ya know... but that is to remain nothing more than a fairytale because, well, that's exactly what it is. I'm too far gone for that and would need a complete memory evaporation for things to be different unfortunately.

Wirral

I can't remember the last time I felt lonely before this all happened.

I've always thought myself reluctantly social, happy in my own space and my own silence and socialising because it was expected rather than because I actively wanted to. Clearly that isn't the case, because having no human contact from one week's end to the next has left me profoundly lonely.

I miss casual touch (more than sex if I'm honest), I miss conversation that isn't through a screen. My emotions are perilously close to the surface much of the time and the last 9 months have taken a huge emotional toll on me.

It's not a huge revelation but it has made me reassess some things.

I change jobs in six weeks because I was forced to confront the fact my current job was draining me. The flat I've always considered very temporary I've realised I want to stay in a little longer and have started making it a more inviting space to spend my time.

Will it change how I use this site? Probably not. Much as I would love a warm body in my bed right now I'm acutely aware I'm not at my happiest in a relationship so I'll probably continue to look for local FwB arrangements.

"Has really made me think about life.

"

I get this.... The last 9 months have seen me go from social whore to social hermit..... and it’s been rough at times! I am not on as much as I was, and yes it’s lead to me thinking about what I want after this is over..... I just miss a damn good hug!

I think I have worked out the good people deserve my attention and those who aren’t won’t get as much of the ire in future.... don’t sweat the small stuff....
