Definitely. There is one lady on here I feel particularly close to but not sexually. There are a few others I chat to knowing nothing will ever happen between us sexually.
Yes I contacted every one of them with a view to getting in their pants, but it didn't work out that way.

Love this. I wouldn't say that's friend zoning. From a female perspective that's called a fuck buddy if mutually agreed. Or should either male or female not have declared friend boundaries a player/one night stand/ or used to scratch an itch until either the male or female party finds something different/more or greener.
The policy of honesty up front is always a winner. Only my personal opinion though. As many good times can be had without the lies. |

Very much this for me too.
I've a few friends who started off as potential relationships for me but it became clear it wasn't on their radar. It fizzles out and then they move into a relationship.
Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. Often I then get the attempts to reconnect.
I tend not to allow them.

I've had many meets where the sexual arrangements have ended, my decision btw except for one where it was mutually decided. Three are still considered friends, the mutually decided one, we are just enjoying our own space for now but sent each other Xmas cards. Where some friendships just fizzle out and there is no real contact once the sex ends, I guess there weren't really any strong foundations for it to be considered a friendship in the first place. Friendships these days are very transient but I put this down to the Internet age. Even friendships formed offline are seemingly more labour intensive requiring effort to maintain. Though there could be many factors such as age, living in London etc.
Friendship can be considered a dirty word but I think it's value is so underestimated. If I had to choose to forego the sex in order to forge a strong healthy relationship, I've often chosen the latter. But if I fancied the pants off them and it was reciprocated, that kind of muddys the waters. That rarely happens though. |

I distinctly remember the sting of being friend zoned when I was 19 by the most gorgeous boy. He totally could have bedded me, but knowing I was way more into him than vice versa he did the decent thing and spurned my advances. My pride was hurt but I got over it.
It hasn't happened since because I'm so antisocial and rarely see anyone I don't already know. |

I've always took friend zoning to mean consciously deciding not to sleep with someone regardless of whether you find them attractive, as they're more important to you as a friend. Still shit if they don't want to be in that zone, but a wee bit more positive! |

She did take that as a insult to begin with but now our friendship is worth more than just sex. I'm just not sexually attracted to her.She's not bad looking.Quite the opposite but she's just not for me that way.
I guess if I had of acted on her advances then maybe we wouldn't have the friendship we have now as I would of felt like I just used her for a random fuck and she's worth more than that. |

There is different contexts to this as well.
There is friends zoning that happens when you’ve been chatting, meeting up for dates/socials where they say I think you’re great but...
There is also the times when you meet up, get to know them, progress to fucking & then after a short while they do the I think you’re great but I think we’d be better off as friends (or I’ve actually now decided to get back with my ex )
I’ve experienced them both, some I’ve stayed good friends with others not so much... |

Oh god yeah, definitely. You can get to a point where no matter what you do or how many signals you put out to someone (in my case my ex) there is simply no point in anything other than friends as you just loose interest in trying to pursue anything else.
