I'll take a wink as an invitation to message if I receive one usually.
Occasionally I'll send one if I'm not too sure if I fit the criteria, although usually I just wade in and send a message. If it's ignored, no harm no foul |

I generally ignore them as well.
In my experience, if someone winks me and I message them off the back of it, they never respond.
Winks are pretty pointless really. |

I always look at who has winked me and if I like their profile I will wink or message back, I sometimes wink first see if anything comes of it sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't, I've had some great experiences that have started with a simple wink |

Out of the blue friend adds are just as pointless.
I get loads of friend adds, almost always from couples - they never speak to you though. Again, pointless. |

I wink, If they wink back then I message and the same in reverse
We’re the same , works for us "
That’s how I use them too |

I'll wink if there's no mention of winks will be ignored on their profile, but I doubt they get noticed because women must receive so many.
Not as an alternative to a nice message but you never know who might actually be going through all their winks

For guys I guess being winked at is like getting a message off a woman (pretty much non-existent!). If a woman winks (rarely happens) and I like the look of her profile I then message her. I've had a couple of winks off women/couples though which I've responded to and then heard nothing back. Bit strange if you ask me why they'd bother if they don't want to chat.
For women they're probably inconsequential because they get that many messages they can pick and choose who they converse with. A wink probably just looks like the guy is too lazy to send a message. But if you're a guy who is fed up of having messages ignored/deleted without them being read you can probably see why guys might take the less painful ignore option of a quick wink.
I think that makes sense. |
