how many work in the arts industry ... how are you coping under the current climate and what strategies can you recommend to others that will help see them through to the other side of this muddled time? |

One of us does and almost all work has dried up. We're just taking it month by month and being careful with the money we have left and seeking alternative forms of income to extend how long the savings last. |

Both creatives here - S is a poet and as such has managed to deliver a lot of workshops and performances online, G is a musician and as such has not fared so well
There's very little that can be done if you depend on large space, equipment, and groups of people working together. Delivering workshops to a large group of individuals working on their own is far easier. Streaming and merch income of course is difficult to achieve without gigs. |

music is my main field also. i have been recording parts using software at home and then posting to friends and colleagues dropbox so they can add/remix how they choose. it's been rewarding creatively. owing to the surge in demand for streaming music, tv, films etc. a lot my published work has generated an increase in revenue, but i feel i am very lucky in this regard. i have contributed my increased income from this to the likes of the save the roadie fund and general patronage of allied workers in the music industry. stay strong and keep on keepin' on. |

I work in theatrical costume, I think we've had the grand sum of approx 5 jobs since March.
2020 was going to be our busiest year since I started in 2012 and obviously it's been dire. I've been building an e-commerce site to sell some vintage stock off but I am now furloughed again.
Thankfully, I know I'll be last out if push does come to shove but I have no idea what I'll do if I lose my job. Costuming is where I belong. |

We don't go into that publicly I'm afraid. One of us has quite a public-facing job and we don't want anybody trying to identify either of us through that. We keep our Fab lives very separate from our real lives. |

can i ask, do you do desk work or lampy or other stuff?"

I am a drummer in several bands. ALthough it's mot my main job, the impact that being starved of the opportunities to make music with others is extremely hard. I can't even imagine how hard it would be if I had list my income too.

i have many friends in the same situation and it's hit them hard. coupled with european work being made far more difficult to organise as of yesterday people are panicing as to their future, especially older friends who will need to completely re-skill. it's utterly tragic.
we have to look out for each other or the arts will struggle for a long time i fear. |

I write custom software for live performance and exhibitions. I had a full year of work booked in for the first time since the financial crash. All cancelled in March been struggling to seek out online work ever since, only just surviving. |
