I've got a friend who recently suffered a heart attack, this has resulted in 2 stents being placed in major arteries to maintain the blood flow and various tablets.
My friend would like to hear of anyone else's experiences with this regarding how your lifestyle changed, were you able to keep working as before and how life changed for you in general.
This has been a recent drama so if you've been through this then I'm sure you'll remember the kind of questions you had..?
Any help or info would be very helpful, many thanks

It varies depending upon the exact nature of the heart attack and the individuals lifestyle.
Your friend would have been informed that you can resume a normal life and at first it will be difficult to believe that is possible with the amount of discomfort they are probably in.
My advice is to rest, take heed to the advice given, make lifestyle changes to live a healthier life. Follow through with the cardio physios, out patient appointments and don't push yourself beyond their limits. Youe friend should keep the spray at hand at all times, its works when needed.
In time if all goes well, they ought to feel a vast improvement after the first year.
I had mine in my earlier 30's and returned back to my physical routines and exercise. Most people have no idea what I went through.

My partner had a triple bi pass and then a few years later had a heartattack and had two stents put in. Very simple operation and he was soon back to full health. Even after the bipass he was back to playing tennis within 12 weeks.
Modern medicine is a wonderful thing |

Thank you for that Jay thats very helpful.
Did this affect you in your job? Its a given that there's now going to be a recuperation period which length wise will be determined by the doctor but what might be the expectations be once this has been completed, is it fair to say that apart from obvious lifestyle changes like diet etc that life can still be quite normal? |

I have 3 stents fitted and a dephibulator fitted waiting on transplant quests it all depend on how series condition is I carnt work but still do most things I did before miremund over matter |

He followed all the advice given to him by nhs and was back at work as a builder about 8 weeks later. |

I went back into a physical job after 3 months. It was tough rebuilding your strength and stamina, but yes life will return to normal as the underlining problem was addressed.
Another thing, your friend may (or may not) have little after effects which will seem like the same thing is happening again ... that can be common, in which case don't hesitate to seek medical attention and advice. If so they will subside within a couple weeks, its perfectly natural to be scared when you feel you are revisiting the most traumatic moment of your life.
Tell your friend to have faith, time is a great healer. I cannot thank the surgeons and care staff at Harefield hospital enough.  |

I've not had a heart attack but my dad had two and stents etc so this is a subject quite close to my heart.
My biggest advice would be listen to your doctors and your body and please live a healthier lifestyle. Do not smoke, limit your drinking and be active. You can go on to live such a normal life if you take it easy and listen to your body.  |

I had a stent put in 10 years ago
I thought I had a bit of asthma
Anyway the good news is within a few days felt much better and apart from having to take pills for the rest of my life I am fine
