Too many to choose but could come up with 50 that should be higher than Last Christmas IMHO - to be fair it's not a bad song as Christmas songs go, but best of the 80s? No chance

They probably did the survey in December and it was the first track that sprung to mind.

For me, it's Vienna by Ultravox.

I really couldn't single put just one song but any of the following would be on my list...

Ghost Town - The Specials

Embarrassment - Madness

Happy Hour - The Housemartins

Temptation - New Order

Going Underground - The Jam

Rip It Up - Orange Juice

When Love Breaks Down - Prefab Sprout

Mirror In The Bathroom - The Beat

Do It Clean - Echo & The Bunnymen

Close To You - The Cure

Kick Over The Statues - The Redskins

Geno - Dexys Midnight Runners

And I could go on and on

You could easily name 50 superb singles from the 80s off the top of your head.

I'm not sure if you could do with any other decade.

To be fair I probably could for the 60s, 70s and possibly the 90s too without too much effort

I could also probably name more awful songs from the 80s than I could any other era without too much thought

I'd struggle to name 10 from the 70s.

Every decade had shite in it..The 90s especially..the 80s only really went bad with that stock aitken Waterman shite.

Try the following for some absolute garbage from the 80s:

No-one Quite Like Grandma

Day Trip To Bangor

Arthur Daley E's Alright

Star Trekking

One Day At A Time Sweet Jesus

Shaddap Your Face

Add to that any of the SAW stuff, especially the relentless tide of Aussie soap stars and the likes of Nick Berry and Anita Dobson...and the 80s doesn't look quite as rose tinted.

Don't get me wrong, my musical tastes were forged in the late 70s/early 80s - I just don't think they are as great, or greater than any other era - each era has its mix of good and bad

Too many to choose from (though a lot of the ones I came up with were either late 70's or early 90's.)

Say Hello, Wave Goodbye - Soft Cell

Love Shack - B52s

Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel

Experiment IV - Kate Bush

True Colours - Cyndi Lauper

Touch Too Much - AC/DC

Hammer to Fall - Queen

Hot Me With Your Best Shot - Pat Benatar

Owner of a Lonely Heart - YES

A Good Heart - Feargal Sharkey

I was brought up by a Dad who loves music and had many a 2/3day road trip in the car when music was our only saviour/distraction!

I can add to the list:

Paul Simon -Graceland
