You need to work on your ass.
Seriously, IT issues are often due to your glutes not working enough and causing tightness in the other muscles. Roll your butt & TFL, not your IT band or knee. A tennis ball is awesome - when it hurts like hell, you're in the right spot!

Second that suggestion as a plucky amateur looking at it biomechanically from the ‘top down’.
You might also want to consider it from the ‘bottom up’ eg footwear or orthotics.
The former perhaps more for a physio and the latter a podiatrist.
