2020 - the good stuff

It's no great secret that this year has been a tough one for so many for so many in many different ways.

What's been a good thing about 2020 for you? Positive comments only, I'm tired of reading about what a washout it's been.

I've connected more with friends and family. I've been learning a couple of new hobbies, and one I'm hoping to turn one into a career path

Share your good stuff here

Leeds

I attended my first transgender wedding which was truly memorable, albeit way back in March.

I have taken up watercolour painting again, just for fun.

I have got to know my local shopkeeper so well, when I went there recently and left all my money at home, they let me take what I wanted and said pay the next time I went.

I have actually enjoyed working from home.

Hello NBN, I hope turning your hobby into your career is successful for you.

This year I've learned how much I value love in all its forms, whether it's a romantic love or a platonic - I'm incredibly lucky to have the partners I have. I'm also lucky with the wonderful friends who keep me smiling and laughing and are there when I have a stream of consciousness that needs to be released. This year I came to accept and realise that I am polyamorous and not only is that not a bad thing, it's enriched my life for the better. I've always thought how I viewed things were a bit odd but now I'm comfortable with my differences in mentality to most. Loving people brings me joy which is such a tweet statement but screw it.

I've also saved a fair amount of money (no lunches out/commuting/little expenditure on diesel/office wear etc) and we've been able to get the kitchen redecorated and make some serious headway in paying our mortgage off.

Maidstone

We got our house in order, finishing all the little jobs that we kept putting off.

We saved money by not going out.

We found new ways to meet with friends (zoom).

We spent more time with our kids.

We were both working throughout lockdown but weren’t trying to fit everything in that we would normally be doing so just had more free time.

Very productive the photos they took of the earth once we'd stopped driving and flying were just phenomenal, just shows how easy it is to make a difference.

Love that you've picked up an old hobby, painting is so therapeutic!

I found out I was pregnant after being told over 10 years ago I wouldn’t fall pregnant naturally. When My period was late it never even occurred to me that I could be - my partner asked me if I could be going through an early menopause

Some hugely deep and personal transformations for you Meli, thank you so much for sharing. It's not a tweet statement, you're being open and honest. That's an awesome quality

I moved house last Christmas to a place that is finally my own space- just me

I lost the toxic job I had which was awful at first, but then I realised how much healthier I felt not being surrounded by utter cunts and being undervalued and underappreciated - I can finally wake up without feeling of impending doom.

I lost 35lbs - though I've put 7lbs back on over Christmas- I'll get back on track next week.

I feel at peace.

My family and close friends are all fit and healthy, and I became a very proud dad when my eldest daughter successfully defended her PhD thesis in virus research, and when I posted her birthday and Christmas cards I got to write Dr instead of Miss on the envelopes.

Having two friends and a dog leave this life this year, plus all the other shite, it’s largely been a year to forget, but the positives are there...

I still have a good job and income which looks secure, and I’ve enjoyed the flexibility of working from home.

I still have my son, who survived a horrific car accident he had no right to get out of, and his injuries are healing nicely.

I met some great people, one of whom in particular made 2020 worthwhile, and is just an amazing individual.

So her, and my son still being alive would be my takeaways from 2020.

My eldest and his girlfriend booked their wedding for 2023

I managed to perform for an online show

I’ve made my hobby and Disney obsession into a job!

I’ve had so much sex it’s ridiculous (with my husband)

I got Covid bad and I was hospitalised, thinking I may not leave that hospital has made me so so grateful for my life, my family and my children.

I’ve taken the pressure off myself to be perfect all the time

I’m looking forward to starting a new year diet ready for my club come back!

I feel like my marriage is the best it has ever been

I can honestly say I feel exactly the same way about the year _eli. Going into January I never knew that despite all the hardship with things like not being able to see family, I have never been so happy. I have experienced love that I never thought I would and if anything it has just intensified as the year has gone on. I don't know what 2021 will bring but if it's anything like last year,I can't wait. Hopefully I will be able to see the lady that makes me smile and my heart skip a beat more next year, that's the only thing that could make it even more magical xxxx
