Turning games into films/TV series
Jump to: Newest in thread
Anyone ever had thoughts on this before?
Do you have a favourite game/games which you would love to see on the big screen or adapted into a television series?
Have you gone far enough to think about which actors could play the main roles? |

"Final Fantasy Vll...Would love to see this remade into a series. A film just wouldn't do it justice and need to be several hours long at least "
Never played it but have friends who have. Agree that it would make a far better TV series based on what I've heard |

Any of the Final Fantasy series would make a great TV series thoigh.
In fact, most game series if you honoured the source material and didn't make stupid changes to appeal to a broader audience, would work well as a TV series. Games to movies just don't work as the pacing for game plots requires extended development time. Not the 2 hour limit of a movie.
Mass effect (minus the poor ending) would have made an outstanding TV series.
Warcraft - they tried this as a movie, they went about it so wrong. As a TV series with time to explore the world and characters would have done it much more justice.
Starcraft
God of war
The last of Us
Horizen Zero Dawn
Red dead redemption 1 and 2
A few of the Assassins creeds (just the animus stuff, not the present day).
Legend of zelda: ocarina of time
Metal gear solid would make a good movie since it followed a movie like plot anyway (minus the backtracking).
To name but a few!

Ahhh, you've named the game that made me think of the question, God of War. Absolutely blown away and only 20% through it.
Agree it would be a fine TV series if done properly.
I think Watchdogs would be a good film but would be in the near 3 hour region to be done well. |

Thought there was an AC film? Michael Fassbender I think was in it - although guessing it bombed as don't remember hearing much about it

It was stunning first time around on the original Playstation. The recent remake was art form.

There was a film and it wasn't very good in my opinion. Most of the clamour for the film came from a stunt which I think broke a world record for the highest fall from a crane or something like that. |

Will have to take your word for it. Always good to find a game that you can invest so much into. |

"The old Syndicate game would be fun on the big screen, as would Monkey Island. "
Such a blast from the past! Spent hours on Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2 in my youth!!
Even now, hubby tells me that I fight like a dairy farmer!! |

The original Metal Gear Solid on Ps1. I know Solid Snake would be compared to Snake Plisskin but I guess it was a homage.
Ff7 best game ever. I haven't played the remake. |

Uncharted would probably make a good film series, although it's probably been done in some respects across various films.
Bioshock could be an original and interesting film if they managed to weave a story round it. |

Uncharted is coming to the big screen soon. The new spiderman guy playing the main character.
I'm looking forward to The Last Of Us coming out as a TV series. |

Interesting - quite a "name" cast too by the looks of it |

Yes, very true. Unchartered is coming. Tom Holland is Drake, Mark Wahlberg is Sully |

"GTAv! Playing the game felt like starring in a blockbuster movie anyway, easily convert the storyline to a film the character’Trevor’ is an instant star!
D."
The actor Steven Ogg could actually play Trevor too. He has been in a few things and while not as over the top eccentric psycho as Trevor was, those characters still had a bit of Trevor in them. |
