I think the rain and then the sun brings them all out...

the more you react to them, they more they play with you... and they win

I can't even open the kitchen windows as lots of little beasts from the field of barley behind my house swarm in. The windows are covered within minutes ..... why would they fly into the house, do they want to hide from the swallows? lol

I bring pool screen back from florida you can buy it on a roll . I believe you can get similar here from B and Q velcro to the frame and windows can be wide open. I use it over mine to prevent birds getting out. You can also buy the battery tennis racquets from the pound shop

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

We've always used flyscreens - Lakeland one holds up best if you want a semi permanent fly screen. For temporary the net from the pound shops is fine but the stick strip is too thin and the wind blows it off.

The Avon stuff worked for me in Scotland recently.

Make friends with a local beekeeper and borrow on of their suits?

Either that - or find a squaddie on here (appararently there's one or two around!) and get him to nick you an NBC suit!

Slightly impractical if it gets sunny again - but those pesky flies won't stand a chance!

I've heard the Avon skin so soft is the only thing that works against the midges in Scotland but I think were talking about flys not midges I'd just cut back on your rimming activities before you take the dogs out
