My youngest son even signs certain words as he speaks them, thanks to Justin. (Though i do understand the OP's hatred of him).
That Katie's a right fox, i wouldn't mind pushing her round a bed for a while. hehe. |

When my boys were small and I got bored reading to them at bedtime, once I thought they were in the land of nod, to brighten things up for myself, I would create an adult version of their favourite stories - Thomas the Tank Engine
"Morning Percy" Said the Fat Controller
"Feck off ya fat bastard!" said Percy
"Now that's not nice, is it Percy??" said the Fat Controller.
"Not nice?" said Percy, grinning. "Nah - not nice is what I was doing to Annie and that slut Clarabel last night -. Annie gives one hell of a BJ on yer coupling and Clarabel don't arf like it up the buffers!!!!!" chortled Percy as he puffed off to wind Thomas up with his story.
"Cheeky green cunt...." muttered the Fat Controller, under his breath.
I got caught out when their Mum laughed so loud one night, that the eldest sat bolt upright and said "Daddy - that's NOT what it says in the book!!!!!"

Mr. Tumble uses Makaton sign language which is officially recognised as a communication aid for children with autism, add and adhd.
Not to be confused with British Sign Language, as some embarrassed patents have been when watching with their children!

Mr Tumble is very good and easily acceesible resource for learning Makaton & basic sign.
Children and adults with learning difficulties/disabilities can enjoy a fun, short simple skit, along with their carers and/or support staff whilst learning together and simultaneously broadening their range of communication.
Children of any ability can increase their understanding of communication methods, and consequently (potentially) find themsleves more involved in a broader society. |

The important point with the kids programmes is to listen to what the adults say - it is often full of double meanings - it is the only way they can keep themselves sane
For the oldies amongst us - Playschool used to be the worst |

Ok !!! Most of you have a dislike for Mr Tumble. My daughter is 13yrs old has severe Autism, profound learning difficulties and IS non-verbal. the latter in that sentence is the hardest to deal with and Mr Tumble comes in to his own. Although my daughter has trouble signing as she has very low muscle tone she can still sign a little, children need these programs to communicate to us and others. I admire young children that sit and learn as these are the ones that are able to chat to anyone that they come across and that makes awareness so much better, where those who don't can't. So next time to happen to see him even if he is annoying to most of you. Just think of those that need Him in their lives to be able to enjoy their life just like you and I !!!
Sorry if i come across as upset, but everyday i come across a situation where i seem to have to explain myself and my daughter and i shouldn't have too..... Awareness is the key to all problems !!
Thank you for reading this......(Perky) |

This is one of the reasons I worry about children's TV being taken off BBC1. When it is solely on c-beebies and CBBC and competing against endless, cheap to air, cartoons, more parents will become absent from what their children are watching as they will trust the content not to change dramatically to the news etc.
My nephews and the neighbourhood kids all loved communicating in Makaton, especially as they thought we didn't understand them. They are all well rounded communicators. |

Mrs P your totally right in what you have said, but to be fair to others I have heard some kids say that they find Justin just a bit to much sometimes. I already learnt to not explain my disability unless someone asks me. Came to a head when car driver almost run me and my guilde dog over and shouted at us to ask if we were blind. I would have thought the guide dog gave it away |

You should never have to explain yourself to anyone, though in a previous life I was a community nurse working with children with ASD and their families so I know how misunderstood these children can be and how much input is involved from their loved ones. I totally understand the positives of programming such as Mr Tumble..my own grandson adores him.. It's Justin Fletcher that aggravates me, not the programming or their content that is the problem

No need to apologise Dave, I've had a 'bit of a morning' and came to the thread late. I know most of the comments from everyone are meant in fun - one way or another! Lol! - but occasionally one or two hit my 'hot buttons' where my daughter is concerned and I go into 'protective Mum' mode..

Love Mr.Tumble, we use them with our kids who have special need's and they love him and some are even start to mimic the signing and macatone he does. However its always worrying when myself and the rest of the staff know and sing it word for word! |
