The below is copy and pasted.
In Canada, the brilliant idea of combining homes for seniors and orphan homes has been implemented.
The result exceeded all expectations! The elderly found loving grandchildren, and orphans for the first time felt what love and paternal care was.
Doctors are observing an improvement in all vital functions in the elderly, a great interest in life is awake in the eyes. Before the kids came from the shelter, the elderly looked more like dead eyed mummies.
Children who first rejected their hugs, fearful, uncertain and sad have become ordinary noisy and agitated children.
Some found a family they never had, others felt the warmth of a house full of grandchildren.
The ideal solution for intelligent people who understand that children need shelter and lonely elderly and feel loved and useful."
I read the above on Facebook. It seems like a fabulous idea. I wondered what other peoples thoughts were. |

"Didn't they do a tv series on a similar idea recently? Kids staying in a care home. I'm sure they had the same results.
I hadn't realised. I will try to find it."
I can't remember what it was called but it was nursery children visiting old people's homes.
It's only very recently that such a sharp separation has been made between age groups. At one time old people wouldn't have been put in to homes specifically for their age group. |

I think it has it wonderful plus side and a slightly concerning negative.
On the plus it’s a win for both parties as long as the elderly people are fully onboard with the care and nurture of these children. However my main concerns are with the limited life left with the adults, these children will get close to one or two of the residents just to lose them when they could possibly need them the most.
But on the whole I’m all for it, plenty of our elderly people feel unwanted or useless in their old age but that wisdom, love and patience could and should be mined for all it’s worth |
