The humble sprout
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hated or loved there are very few vegetables that divide people so much.
So the big question is
Are you in the love or hate camp and if you love them how do you do yours ?
I'm in the LOVE camp but undecided whether to do my tried and tested way or something new.
Bacon croutons, chilli and garlic or possibly tempted to replace the bacon with chorizo

Nothing humble about the little fuckers. They're needy and demanding. They're labour intensive with all that trimming and crossing the bases and the only way to make them edible is to fry them in tasty things like bacon and garlic.
Other than that they're alright, but I'd rather have cabbage and be done with the little bastards. |

Oh I flipping love sprouts, I just boil them and cover them in gravy once on my plate.
I tried all that fancy stuff with bacon and chestnuts before and tbh I prefer them pure and simple.... YUMMY

"Work of the devil"
Absolutely
When i was a boy we used to have a very large field behind our house. Every other year the farmer would plant it with brussels.
The stench from them during harvest is just overpowering and something that can not be put out of your mind or out of the house. The Devil is welcome to them, i for one can't be in the same room as one. |

"The devils own vegetable!
What other vegetables need to have a cross cut in them before they can be cooked?"
The cross cutting is just something to give the blokes to do instead of sitting on their arses watching telly |

They don't need the x in them because it can make them waterlogged.
I think it comes from the days when people boiled them to mush.
But to let you into a secret it's the dark satanic sprout worshippers secret sign(I'll have to kill you now you know) |
