I used to love a bit of Bottom. Not seen it for years. I could be wrong but it’s the kind of show I wouldn’t have thought has aged well. The Christmas special was a good one though.

It's certainly aged yes, but I like to think the years have been kind.

"My favourite is culture"

In the season 1 episode titled 'Contest' there is line delivered by Richie while reflecting on his miserable existence which concludes with: 'Sometimes Eddi, I think I've reached my bottom.'

It was actually the first episode made, though 'Smells' was first to air.

When Richie triggers the booby trap.

'Cut me down Eddi, I mean little boy'

'It was cost yer ten quid Richie'

'I'm not Richie, I'm Santa Claus...'

'Alright, it will cost you ten quid Santa!'

They were brilliant live as well.

I saw them on stage in Nottingham and they stayed in character playing along with it when the stage caught fire.

You could see the perspiration on Rik, his shirt was clinging to him within a few minutes on their live shows. They even share an AdLib joke: 'look at the state of me, looks like I've been masturbating for a month.'

'Well, you have, .. havn't you.'

I think Rik Mayall was great, but I don't 'get' Bottom

I'm not a fan of slapstick, so I guess it was on a loser (for me) from the get go
