Nah, I don't like it either. Mainly because it fetishises women's who are bigger and I don't want to be someone's fat fetish. I want to be wanted because of the full range of what I have to offer, not because of my dress size.
Note: if someone has a fat fetish, that's fine, I just don't want to be part of it. |

There and to the left a bit |
I think it's one of those marmite terms that some women embrace and others dislike - pretty ambivalent about it either way personally, if someone likes the term and embraces it for themselves good luck to them, likewise if someone dislikes it and asks people not to use it about them.
The regular threads that appear here with that title certainly seem to have been popular enough with both genders. |

When does it cross from a preference or an appreciation into a fetish? |

I do find it a bit weird but then I also think BBC/BWC are pointless too, as it seems every BC is advertised as BBC and there are no upper or lower bounds on the 'B'
But maybe that is just the statistician in me talking ![](/icons/s/2/halo.gif) |

We spend a lot of time looking for descriptors of body size (any size). We do it for a reason of course, because others have size preferences they find attractive and that’s ok. I’m a wobbly size 16 with a mummy tummy, to some that’s fat and to others it’s not. I prefer a more factual description of body shape, but that’s just me. I’m also fine with “fat” The term BBW is positive way of describing overweight women, I’m not sure you can be “against” it. Although perhaps it’s a little outdated now. I guess it may have become fetishised like BBC but it is used widely in movements that promote body positivity.

Not one you are going to win on Op, not because you are wrong (or right) but because it is contextual and personal preference.
The same word can be one person's sly insult or another's owning who they are and the language they choose describe themselves with. Therein lies the challenge you struggle with - how to see the insults from the self-statement. Being a sex site makes it more challenging as the roles people play can be acted out in the words they use as a precursor to sex.
Personally we start with if it is positive and used freely by the individual, not just applied to them by others, then fair play.

I'm big. I have no problem with "BBW" term. What I have problem with is when guys send me a messages saying I'm fat cow and I need gym.
Being called big isn't an insult. Same as being called small/skinny.
It might be taken as insult if girl is size 14 and someone calls her BBW, when she's simply normal, average size, but Me, size 22, I'm big. And I'm ok with it. ![](/icons/s/redface.gif) |

When the messages and comments are size focused first and anything else comes after. I don't want messages or conversation to focus on my size at all, to be honest. Mainly because I hate it. I know I'm big, I don't want reminding. |

I dislike the term for many reasons. Why refer to a womans size at all? Why no just say beautiful? Qualifying it makes it sound like some sort of compensation to me.
While we're on the subject why is it only OK to call big women beautiful, what about the less big? |

You know what I hate?
As a big/large/fat/plus size woman ...
I hate people deciding that big is bad.
I am big.
I'm not sorry about it.
Size/weight is no indication of beauty.
We can be both big and beautiful.

Originally large women used the term to empower themselves. However it seems to have been taken up by the fetishists and feeders now.
I personally don’t have a problem with it, but I don’t have a problem with being called fat either.

Labels are necessary in every aspect of life.
I neither like nor dislike the term BBW ........ I do think it covers a huge variety of body shapes and isn't an illuminator of anything.
Most pics of women using the bbw label are NOT bbw in my understanding. |

"I don't care what people call me or think of me.
I love me so that's all that matters "
And that's not meant in an arrogant or Egotistical way either.
But if I don't like me, then how can I expect others to??
Plus... I'm too old to care and have better ways to spend my time and energy on. |

Do you want to be known just as a big dick though? Like that's your only feature? I'd hope not. Same for me with my physical size being the primary feature being commented upon. What about my intelligence? My riveting conversation? My cracking jokes? My excellent bottom and boobs? Etc. |

Originally it was a positive affirmation as in the past bigger women were just seen as fat and ugly. It was used to reclaim their attractiveness. Now it has become a neutral definition by those who do not know the history. |

My parents had a friend, Nell. She wore the most hideous patterned dresses. Whenever my dad was describing something with a hideous pattern he'd say "it would make one of Nell's frocks".
You didn't need to ask if it was floral or lines, your own imagination would kick in. BBW is like that for me: a ready reckoner nothing more, nothing less.

For me, it's when the comments focus solely on my size. Usually hand in hand with attributes like fun-loving or insatiable/greedy, because that's how they want to perceive a bigger girl.
I love that guys appreciate bigger girls, just tell me you find me attractive. You don't have to mention my size - I've already done that in my profile. |

I couldn't care less about the term. It does not have any effect on me so I find no offense in it.
Some women love the term, they embrace it. Some hate it.
I tend to not get offended on behalf of others. However I will show compassion and respect for how each individual and their view on it. I won't intentially use a term to upset people, but I won't go out of my way to avoid using it on the chance that somebody may not like the term. |

If a woman refers to herself as such and is fine, then great. But it's not something all women of a certain dress size want to be referred to as. I'm a woman, not a dress size. Too many messages are focused/obsessed on size, which is about as sexy as Boris Johnson for me ![](/icons/s/2/vom.gif) |

The beholder. In other words, the person viewing said thing of beauty (or not beauty as the case may be).
I may find something (or somebody) the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, others may find it the ugliest. If somebody chooses to not find an individual/any BBW as beautiful they are allowed to do so and they are not wrong. Just as those that do find them beautiful are also not wrong. Beauty is pretty damn subjective, very much like art.
The only wrong part about it, is when it is intentionally pointed out with the purpose to hurt and upset. |

I hate being called a BBW, and I would also hate being called a cbw, I'm fat I'd rather be called a fat girl as my own personal preference. Just call people whatever they want to be called, I wouldn't jump in with any labels until you know that person is comfortable with them. I tend to ignore people if they say they "love a BBW" |
