Both people have to realise what went wrong and aim to change it or it will be same old same old, until you finally have had enough.

That way you can hold your head high knowing you did all you can.

If they aren't prepared to take that route, and aren't prepared to take some responsibility then you're both better off out of it

If they can't admit to things or apologise for them sincerely then it might not work anymore.

Try again if you think things will work out.
