Your best gig ever...
Jump to: Newest in thread
Following on from the album theme... Glad to find so many music loving soul mates...
And in the absence of any live music for so long... Gigs are things I miss the most in all of this.
So what was your best ever gig (OK top 5) and why?
Mine...
Wycombe Town Hall... The jam 1977...my first ever gig... I was underage, excited beyond reason, 1st in the queue and they blew my socks off supported by the new hearts and the jolt.
A close second was miles kane at the institute in Birmingham a few seasons ago... The atmosphere was electric, energetic, great tunes, great venue
Any memories folks? |

Leeds 2008 - Billy Talent, Alexisonfire and The Gallows
The Pad in Bedford - Enter Shikari and Hadouken
Think it was 2004 when I saw Blink 182 and AFI at the NEC |

OK so you might know the answer to the year on this... Motorhead at Wycombe Town Hall again... Took my first ever girl hoping for a kiss or whatever I did as a teen... Tried to impress her by sticking my head in the bass bin.... (you can guess the rest). I'm pretty sure they were borrowing pink Floyd's tour PA as they were supporting them.... Probably 77 maybe 78? |

Madness - Finsbury Park 8th August 1992 - their first gig in 6 years, everything about that day was special, you could cut the atmosphere with a knife when they hit the stage and proceeded to literally cause an earthquake which registered on the Richter scale
The Beat - Hammersmith Palais - October 1982 - The Alarm and Aztec Camera were support, the latter walked off as they didn't go down well so the headline act played longer and blew the roof off.
Green Day - Hyde Park - July 2017 - absolutely superb gig, had the audience in the palm of their hand from start to finish, made all the more special by it being my daughters favourite band and first time of seeing them.
Muse - Etihad and Emirates - 2014 - amazing show, the sound, the stage set, the theatrics - any Muse gig is so much more than just a gig, it's an experience.
Biffy Clyro - Dublin and Belfast - November 2016 - wasn't a fan before the first gig in Dublin, but they blew me away so much, got tickets for Belfast the next night where ended up on the barrier and got blown away again.
Madness - Light Bar, London - May 2009 - was the launch party for their new album, in a small intimate venue for invited guests only and such a special experience to be privileged to be there. |

I only do comedy gigs, not music, but one of the best I've been to featured Ian D Montfort, Tom Binns and Ivan Brackenbury. It was a triple headliner and I was laughing so hard my ribs hurt. The best part is, that all 3 acts are the same person. |

Paul Weller in Leicester. PA broke down and everyone sang broken stones with Steve white drumming. Amazing atmosphere. Then coming out into a summer thunder storm and driving home with lightening going off all the way. |

So jealous! We actually got the DVD!
Personally Frank Turner, at a small gig of around 50 people in Kendal.
Also, The Long Road Fest was pretty awesome, full weekend of family friendly entertainment, food and fun! |

The Wildhearts, Therapy? and The Glitterati at Rock City in 2004.
I was initially saddened when I heard Backyard Babies had dropped out, but then Therapy? were added
Such a great night. Almost died from dancing (aka jumping about like a nutter) through the entire thing.
Looking forward to future nights like that. |

Do the dog...not the donkey!!
The curtain dropping almost in synch with JB's drum opening
Neville giving it large and the whole band really tight and up for it - certainly a night I never thought I'd witness |

That's mostly where I'm leaning and not just because of Neville - even without JD it wasn't quite right although the keyboardist was pretty good as it turned out |

Korn - 20th Anniversary show in Brixton - they played their debut album only
The Orb - Reading late 90’s off my tits on acid
Twelve Foot Ninja - Camden 2018? Got to meet the band and be backstage with them during the show
Osdorp Posse - Pinkpop 1995/6 - Amazing crowd interaction, very atmospheric show
Metalica - Summer sanitarium show in 2000. James Herfield couldn’t make it so all the other line up singers took turns taking his place. Once in a lifetime show.
