About cheese

So I'm putting together a cheese smorgasbord and looking for around 10 that I haven't tried before.

I've got an independent shop quite local that stocks loads so hopefully I can source most.

And pickle suggestions that are awesome would be appreciated.

I don't really like blue mouldy cheeses but 1 might make the list if you can persuade me

Think Caerphilly and hit me up with your cheese recommendations.

I like a soft cheeses like stinky brie and camembert- a bit of roquefort too.

My go to pickles are chilli jam and cara_elised onion chutney

I'm not buying them until the last minute though or I'll eat them before my family arrive

.

Reblochon for a soft cheese is delicious and definitely worth a spot.

Lincolnshire Poacher for the hard cheese, makes a nice change from farmhouse cheddar.

I'm not the biggest fan of blue cheese so I normally go for two softer cheeses - a goats cheese like Golden Cross or Aldwych might be a good shout but goats cheese can be quite hit and miss so depends on if you like it really!

Ref blue cheese, ask your monger if they have any dolcelatte

It's much creamier than the likes of stilton

You need to try it on a digestive biscuit with a slice of chilled pear on top

I was sceptical

I am a convert

Creamy cheese, crunchy biscuit, sweet pear, it works

I think that might be the one

I bought a selection from a shop in Matlock

Now I've turned 50, a drive and a wander round a cheese shop constitutes a day out

Reblochon is a good shout. Reminds me of ski holidays in Le Grand Bornand.
