Gifts arrived yesterday, now all wrapped up

Food will be brought during the week, meat in order from butcher and veggies from greengrocers...

Christmas pudding is getting its final shot of brandy this weekend, hope it’s ok as I made it late this year due to house move!

As set as one can be

I have a mask, a 2 meter stick and wondering if I should take my cattle prod for those who venture too close

I'm sorry

I made my choice in spring so I've had time to get my head around it.

Yes. I've been fairly accepting of the restrictions placed on us by this virus but if we can't see our daughter on boxing day I admit I will be upset

I feel for you. I had to choose, in March or April, between seeing my family until pandemic over or my life here. I chose the latter... but it wasn't easy and still isn't easy. But it means I know what's ahead, and that makes it easier in its own way, I suppose.

Food wise not quite done, going to do the festive shop at some point over the next few days. Still need to wrap presents and finish hanging stuff but we're having a relatively small one this year so I'm not stressed/worried about it - I'd like it to all be finished soon but if not it's not the end of the world. It's just nice that my partner isn't working after the year he's ahead at work so we're looking forward to lazing and enjoying each other's company.

Thank you and I empathise with your position. In the grand scheme of things not seeing our daughter on Boxing day is insignificant. I'm concerned for my dad though who will sink further into despondanc.

Is there a local befriending organisation near you, might that help?

That's a good suggestion. He's not short of friends or company and he has my mum and the church. The whole situation (and other circumstances) is getting him down and I think a visit from us at Christmas gave him something to aim for. I am there a lot as one of their carers but Christmas is different in his mind.

Thank you for your suggestion, I appreciate you taking the time to think of it
