I've just messaged a couple and they seem interested in chatting

But they said they were only basic members and can only send a few messages a day and said if I wanted I could send my email address and chat like that

Just asking does that sound bit dodgy or am I being a bit para

Sounds well dodgy.

Probably a fake profile.

Some people do have limited messages due to their membership and so use other methods to chat. However once you're off site you're no longer protected by Fab's rules - scammers and the like certainly exist. It's up to you

And yes, email is unusual as a way to go off site.

Your gut instinct is correct. Do not message off this site until you are ready. I never had a message limit when I was a basic member. I think there was a limit when I was new for the first week, after a ridiculous number of messages were exchanged in a few days, when I was bombed with mails before I found the magic filters

We've never had a limit on messages but we tend not to send that many.

We would, however, be wary of providing an email address early on in a correspondence. Unless, of course, you create a unique one-off address for this situation and can monitor it for spam, phishing etc.

I'm sure people with more experience will be along shortly.

Some people choose to love away from. Fab for messaging, but I've never heard of email being a choice. There are plenty of options out there, just be careful which ones you use. Be safe

Ask them to prove that they are genuine by becoming a site supporter (it’s not going to break a normal persons bank!)

Not sure about messages quota. Maybe ask the tech forum.

As to give your email address just create one for that purpose.

Don't give any 'proper' details.

I have a second email address that I use for anything that may be dodgy, and keep my main email for things I'm certain about.

Or you could suggest Kik instead as I believe that doesn't need any details.

There is deffo a limit on messages if not a site supporter but I'd not give email out.

From memory the first few days, you couldn't message or message much, but after a week, I think full messaging was available.

I wouldn't give them your email address, it's the start of ID theft.

If they asked for the details of your carrier pigeon they’re from the 1920’s, if they wanted your @ smoke signal, they’re off grid in the 1920’s.
