I know a lot of you guys are good in the kitchen
What are you all making yourself this Christmas?
I've done a trial run of mince pies this evening. They smell lovely, I've done 24. I'll be taking 12 to my local garage (got to keep them happy and they found Mabel for me) and 6 to my little old lady around the corner. Sadly it will probably be her last Christmas as she's very ill.
Saving the other 6 for meeeee

I've made the Christmas cake & am feeding it regularly.
Will probably make a few mince pies and some florentines next week. Will make a chocolate yule log for the kids which might also double up as my birthday cake.

Sloe gin winter berry pavlova, I'm very excited and might have had a trial run earlier. I also want to make chocolate orange brownies but it feels like the world and his dog are making brownies nowadays so I'm trying to think of something different to do. Not the biggest fan of gingerbread or things of that style.... bit stumped of what else to do. Cheese board as well most likely.
I normally cheat and get a Cartmel hot pudding in because I can't be bothered to cook with suet . |

Ooooooo you're (mostly) all amazing!
I've given my cake a bit more brandy today to and will decorate it next weekend with my daughter.
Yule log ~ Yes, must try and do that.
Vegetarian sausage rolls ~ must get a recipe for cheese and red onion ones from a work colleague.
Smoked salmon pate nearer the time, I've got a really basic recipe if anyone would like it
Keep up the good work!!! |

"Not very festive, but I've just trialled a Lotus Biscoff cheesecake "
I made a dozen individual Biscoff cheesecakes last week. First time I'd made them. Tasted amazing. |

Normally I make my mum a beef wellington for Christmas dinner but this year she's happy to have lamb instead.
It's not a bake but I always do a tiramisu for pudding after Christmas dinner, if my family had their way I'd have to make it every day....to be fair it's my favourite |

Don’t forget the veg gravy. My brother is veggie so I do two separate Xmas dinners. He’s just happy with veg and no meat but I’m very careful and cook everything separately. |

This thread has me drooling right now!
I've been making fudge and hot chocolate bombs. Staying away from making cakes or baking bread right now as I have no self control with them. I'll end up eating the lot |

All of my family are coming over to mine this year thanks to my d*unken suggestion a few weeks back..
But most are veggie so I am thinking of maybe making a roasted butternut squash and spinach pie with all the trimmings then baked cheese cake?
Mainly because I can make 99% of it before hand so I can have a relaxing day
**I used to be a chef btw.. |

"Im doing the 3 ingredient slow cooker christmas cake tomorrow
3 ingredients? How is that possible with Christmas cake?"
This is the one friends use.
1 kilo mixed fruit (and nuts if wanted)
750mls fluid - I used orange and apple juice and brandy.
2 cups Self Raising Flour.
Soak fruit in fluid of choice for 24 hours
Stir in flour and put into a loose bottom cake tin .
Put in SC and cook for 8 hours on low ,with water 1/2 way up cake tin .
Cook using the Tea Towel Trick in place
Cool and turn out . |

Your pies sound delicious! I will be making 'Southern butter Biscuits' which are like scones but taste like butter, very nice to mop up all the gravy... Yum yum |

Christmas pudding, had its weekly top up of brandy today
Mince pies and sausage rolls to be made Christmas Eve, I always cry as my last Christmas Eve with my Nan was spent baking and she taught me how to make them.... so it’s my yearly moment with my Nan |

"We made gingerbread people this weekend. Not decided upon the dessert for Christmas yet, there's a key decision to make "
I've cheated with my ginger bread, got some shapes from Ikea which well ice and hang off the tree.
We always have a small Christmas pudding, a trifle (shit ~ forgot about that) and a mint vienetta for desserts. The vienetta is a nice childhood memory for me |

Trifle is on my possible list. Our son makes a mean cheesecake and also mousse but he's at uni and coming home on Christmas Eve so he might not get much chance to cook..... |

I've done a trifle using panettoni on the bottom soaked with orange liqueur, that's quite nice. I've ran out of that though so might have to use gin instead! Not really |

How can you all have these delicious Christmas baked goods in the house without eating them?
I've banned myself from buying mince pies that I pretend I'm going to share now |

Made the Christmas cake a few weeks ago and been "feeding" it with Jack Daniels, going to decorate it this weekend and make the cakey bit of sticky toffee pudding for dessert on Christmas day - I'll make the toffee sauce nearer the time. Got Scottish tablet and mince pies on the to do list as well...... And then homemade pavlova filled with raspberry gin creme anglais, fresh raspberries, whipped cream and raspberry shimmer coulis is planned for New Year's day dessert after a buffet type dinner with lots of homemade bitesized goodies in the mix. |

I've got to really fancy that sort of thing to have any. When I have a bit of that cake it'll be tiny!
