"Those who can afford it
Some of the best porn is pay only.
Really? Is that because it's interactive?"
Because it makes money for the site.
They save some of the best stuff for pay only knowing people will pay.
Businesses are in business to make money |

Never paid for porn
Has always been available, from page 3 and the daily sport
to borrowing a mates older brothers VHS, or going to a park and finding a stash on porno's to the many of the freely available streaming sites on the net. |

You know Porn hub and all those other free sites are awful right?
They contribute to all kinds of fucked up abuse, trafficking and underage shit...
I'd rather pay to watch content I know was made safely, legally and with the consent of all involved.
Plus, chances are they're enjoying it far more...
If people weren't paying for it none of us would've heard of Only Fans....lots of people are more than happy to pay sex workers and pornstars for the service they provide, and rightly so imo!

Perhaps they found a link between the amount of porn purchased and the inability to meet the minimum payments? Perhaps too many people were wanking themselves into a stupor and forgetting to go to work?
I wish they would do it to stop me buying other shit I don’t need though. Do you reckon they can arrange to block me from buying stuff from the middle aisle of Lidl? |

They’ve cut ties with PH because of illegal content. However, Mastercard has done so after they’ve supposedly conducted their own investigation, and I can’t see how they’d have had the necessary access to do that. They’re also saying that they may investigate other sites, so I can easily see a situation in future where card companies will take a “moral stance” and ban anything they disagree with. |

Yes, we're in a position where relatively few companies wield huge power over us. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they interfered with our lives further. |

Because it’s their money not yours, and they have a responsibility for what you spend it on though things like charge back and section 75, that now extends to damages and additional costs |

PayPal has views on what you’re allowed to use its service for as well, and people’s accounts get frozen if PP considers them to doing something it doesn’t approve of. I take it you only use cash in shops? How do you get your cash out of the bank? |

Oh they definitely do. A similar thing to this Mastercard/PornHub thing that I heard of last night - Barclaycard have banned (or will ban) use of their cards on gambling sites. I can only assume that’s a moral decision, because I don’t see that it will help much with gambling addiction generally. That’s a much more complex issue than “I won’t let you use your card”. |

They probably think they’re helping, but as you say, it’s misguided. I have a relative who is a gambling addict and I know that this wouldn’t stop him for long.
And what Mastercard and Visa are doing with PornHub and possibly other sites in future, is misguided as well - it won’t actually solve the bad things associated with porn, but it will really hurt the models who are doing it of their own free will, who rely on that income. |

Well can I assume that you can use your own debit card as the money comes out of your own funds. If you use a credit card then you are borrowi v money. I can go along with that. If you lend money then surely you can decide to lend based on what it will be used for.. an example. I am walking along the street and a beggar asks me for a fiver for food. I give him the money. Another beggar asks me for a fiver to buy drugs.. I say no. |

I think there's something to be said for "a company won't facilitate illegal activities": they're entitled to reduce their liability (because they may have some liability, depends on legal specifics I don't know).
Companies are entitled to give money to charity. Companies do lobby government.
Companies *can* set their own terms of use, but with limited exception (such as here, trying to remove themselves from legal liability), I think limiting what people can do with their own money is incredibly problematic, particularly when the company wields such power (there aren't many alternatives for credit or debit cards) |

"What is only f ans all about ?"
It’s a platform for content creators to upload photos and videos. It’s not all porn/NSFW, but a lot of it is. You have to subscribe to a creator to see their posts, but some are free to subscribe to. You can chat with the models, and most will do custom content for a fee if there’s something specific you want. It’s definitely not a platform for meeting, I’ve seen guys on here complaining that they can’t get a meet on there - that’s not what it’s intended for and “meet” is actually a banned word there. The nice thing about it is that OF ID checks all the creators so it’s much less likely there’ll be underage people on there; if there’s a second person in a creator’s content, they have to prove that the person consented to it being posted; and the models generally are making the content they want to make, so there’s less exploitation. |

There's potentially overlap, MasterCard and Visa blocking access to certain sites... There's an FTC lawsuit on anti competitive practices by Facebook - to what extent do they chill and prevent competition? Ditto Google? |

Most people work and expect to be paid and are dependent on it. The sex and porn industries are no different. Sadly these highly rich 'free' sites are killing the hand that fed the mouth. A lot of amateur content is low grade and could reflect the race to the bottom that we're on. Hard xore porn hasn't been legal here for that long, unlike many other countries. |

The problem with the card companies blocking those sites is that if people want to pay for it they will. They'll just find a different, potentially worse (if that's possible) site.
It's a pointless endeavour, that will just piss off some of their customers. |

"If it was tailored for my pleasure, I would. I think Louis Theroux did a documentary once on ‘niche’ porn makers. It was a while back but I think someone wanted their stamp collection ruined by naked women I could be remembering it wrongly
Either way I like a certain scene to be played out, so if it wasn’t too extortionate, I’d definitely pay. "
You maybe thinking (or maybe not) of John Ronson's "the butterfly effect"; a really interesting investigative journalistic series about the effect of Fabian (the former CEO of Pornhub + others) and the knock on effects of this on the traditional porn producers and actors..
Well worth a listen. |
