Coffee. In the afternoon.
But the last 5 Christmas Eves I've not left the pub till 3am! It's a magical night. They stop serving at 10pm and everyone leaves. Except a select few. And we drink n dance but eventually we talk. Proper talking, not pub talk. The year just gone. The hopes for next year.
And we bond in a way that doesn't happen any other night. Stuff comes out. The hospitalised sister with anorexia; the marriage that isn't working; the job desires. Everyone just opens up. 5 or 6 people totally connecting.
And I wouldn't trade it for a hangover free Christmas Day!
But I don't have kids so I don't need to be up before noon |
