Ive a choice between 2 cars :
Ford fiesta, 59 plate, 88,000 on clock, £3000 with cam belt done, part service history
Or
VW Polo moda, 59 plate, 110,000 on clock, £2,600, will ask if it has FSH.
Id the VW suspiciously cheap?

I'd have said that's about right for the polo...depends slightly on what engine variant it has.
If anything I'd say the fiesta seems overpriced (dependant on what model and engine it is).
Having owned both Fords and VWs I'd always opt for the VW due to build quality and reliability, plus lower cost of parts (Ford tend to have quite a lot of Ford only parts which can make repairs expensive). |

The polo is always going to be the better car if it's been serviced etc correctly. So make sure theres service history. If in doubt and you are seriously interested then tell them you want an aa or rac inspection. Uf they are genuine they will have no issue with that. For a couple of hundred quid it's worth every penny.
The pricing is irrelevant as both sound like they are more or less ok.

If you go on app store download mot history app which is free. It will give you mileage and mot history. What it failed on in the past and any future advisories.
A good mot history with passes with very little work is a good indication that the car has been looked after by previous owners.
And yes VW would preferably the better choice more reliable and cheap on repairs.
Been in the trade most of my life. This is just my opinion hope it helps. |

Depending on engines. The ford 1 litre eco boost are rubbish same with the 1.2 tsi in the vw of there diesel can’t go wrong with either. Ford is cheaper to maintain but VW build quality is much better |

I would say download vehicle smart and look over previous mots. Lets you know what the car has needed and had done. Also a good way of knowing how it might have been treated. |

Look around in the market you will find better deals than both of these. Dealers want used cars gone this month so will do a deal. VW price is about right if 1.0 litre Ford is over priced. Also look at things like City Auction and other auctions at ex fleet cars which are all generally well serviced. I have been in the trade over 25 years. Good hunting |

I always use an app called vechile smart, tells you MOT's, millage etc, its really good. I've always had cars from the VAG group and currently have a Golf and a Transporter.
I always pick VAG for 3 reasons really.
1. Their stuff is generally quality.
2. They are cheap to repair (most parts can be found on VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda and are widely interchangeable)
3. The hold their price well.
If in doubt get someone to come with you and I don't mean that 1 mate that everyone has who changed a wheel once in 1987. I mean a proper mechanic or get an AA inspection. |
