Out of the champions league.
No hope of a league title again this year.
Currently managed by someone who is out of his depth.
Will they ever return to the team of the 90’s / 00’s?

Club went downhill as soon as the American owners took over and pawned it! Wont change for a long time as they seem to panic buy instead of plan it. Maguire is a prime example, bought in a panic for ridiculous money mainly to satisfy the fans |

"Why?
Cause they’re just no longer at the races "
Alex Ferguson is still at the races. Literally most weekends.
United have been off the mark for some time now, there’s been a lot of cracks papered over. |

It’s very reminiscent of Liverpool in the mid to late 90’s |

United have been off the perch for nearly a decade so it's nothing new. The wheels came off when Fergie and David Gill left in the same summmer. Poor ownership, poor signings and crap decision making won't improve the club. Plus the support base is split, older United fans have seen the highs and lows. The younger ones only knew success and have a sense of entitlement. The whole club is a basketcase. |

United will come good again but the problem is the owners and the board not the manager or players well save maybe the snake pogba. New ownership needed or nothing will change ![](/icons/s/sad.gif) |

I agree. My club were slow to modernise when the Premier league started and didn’t invest the revenue properly, tried to maintain the promotion from within philosophy for our management and honestly became a shadow of the club we were.
It took 10 years of falling before we started to turn things around and start winning silverware again and arguably only in the last 2 or 3 years have we been at the level some fans thought we “deserved” to be.
Thankfully for Liverpool there is now a winning culture throughout the club and although Klopp is incredible I think the values of the club are at a level now that he isn’t completely indispensable like Fergie became.
United have got a long way to go before they’re even able to challenge again. I’d currently put them at the level of Wolves or Everton |

I think it’s Ed Woodward and Matt Judge that should be leaving Man Utd and a ex player should be in the position of director of football advising the board of the type of player required and what sort of transfer fee should be paid.If Woodward and Judge are to remain then they should only be involved in the player contracts and salaries. Then we can start the rebuilding process properly.I think Ole should be given until the end of the season and then the decision made. For me if he gets top 4 and wins a trophy then he should remain as manager for the following season. |

Unites success in the 90’s was built primarily on a youth academy program. That along with a lot of clubs fell by the wayside, so now teas are bought rather than developed.
I’m no fan of what the academy system became; signing up as many kids as it could and then spitting them out (leaving many heartbroken and stopping playing football). But done properly as some clubs do, it can develop great home grown payers |

The club has been in free fall since Scholes was asked to come out of retirement, it only took a while for it to be seen,
Current set up is a joke when your talking about one of the top 4 clubs on the planet,
And it will get worse. |

Yep. They are well and truly off their perch and the team that they knocked off is back on it. The irony that they are suffering while their two biggest rivals are enjoying success.
Things I love to see.

There and to the left a bit |
To be honest I think United's biggest problem is they have always thought of themselves as the "biggest" club in the country going right back to that European Cup win in 68 and possibly beyond to the Busby Babes - success has come and gone in that time and there's no denying in the 90s they were the dominant force - trouble is with "big" thinking comes "big" expectations so when those expectations aren't met rumblings occur.
Currently United are a big thinking club whose expectations far outweigh their ability, both on the field and throughout the club - as someone else said they're on a level with the Wolves' and Everton's of the Premier League and have been overtaken by not only their neighbours and rivals, but the likes of Chelsea, Spurs and even Leicester.
Trouble is turning that around, they really haven't shaken the shadow of Fergie and if the rumours are to be believed he still holds a lot of sway at the club, and while he does, along with owners who are more interested in financial results rather than Saturdays' ones, nothing is likely to change. |

They’re trying buy their way out of trouble and it’s an all too familiar pattern to that of Liverpool’s in mid 90’s buying mediocre players that just aren’t good enough.
I’m a Liverpool fan and as much as I don’t like to see them do well it’s a sorry state when the English clubs don’t progress through the early stages of a European competition.
Personally I can’t see them doing well for a long time with their current set up as there’s something quite not right within the club. It proves it when Sanchez moved there and after one training session was on the phone to his agent begging him to find him another club. |

Says a lot about the modern player too, it's not just about talent - you've got to have the right attitude and heart, especially in the premier league. The biggest change in Liverpool, mentality. They've brought in good players, but they're winners too. Klopp and his staff deserve a lot of credit - and it kills me to say it. |

Agreed - very few clubs (Chelsea and City being the obvious exceptions) have bought success and those that have have been able to do so because of the seemingly bottomless pockets of their owners coupled with sound management decisions about the players to buy and gel into a team. |

Alex Ferguson fucked the club trying to put his mate in charge ( moyes) which was the wrong choice
Then they sign jose , who again was the wrong choice and now it’s obvious to the anyone
That ollie is not the man for the club .
Anyone with a brain would have took Fred off the pitch last week and that has now cost them 15million
City are laughing at them - United are gone for a long time to come . |

This did make me giggle, but good too see an honest Gooner
Every club through its history has had its ups and downs (some last a lot longer than others). What I don’t like is the fickle fans that are used to the glory days, booing their side every game. Of course you can make a little noise when someone does something stupid but then turn that around and cheer them on.... just imagine if you were on the pitch what would pick you up and motivate you more |

Most of the team!!
Another who is looking back with blinkers on
Cantona was a steal, but he was bought for a large sum of money for the time
So looking back at just one game from 1994 where United smashed City, here's the starting team
Schmeichael
Irwin
Bruce
Pallister
Ince
Kanchelskis
Keane
Giggs
McClair
Hughes
Cantona
Just one player from the united youth, Mark Hughes, and he was bought back from Barcelona |

Yeah. Loving it....maguire is so overrated he's terrible and turns like a tugboat
Need to keep him at the wheel and when he keeps winning 2 then losing 2 he'll stay there, just don't want them to lose 4 on the bounce or he will go |
