"Millwall didn’t take the knee, as per a club statement earlier this week.
Players should make their own choices.. and crowds theirs.. nobody should be pressured to take the knee.. "
They werent pressured to take the knee, if anything they were pressured NOT to take the knee |

"Their reputation for racism is well documented....historically engrained ......"
Indeed it is
I used to have a boyfriend who supported Millwall
Some supporters go looking for trouble, and they're proud of it too |

As much as this could be true, couldn’t this be said of any and every football team’s supporters. Violence and racism in football unfortunately isn’t something new to the sport |

London has a lot of football teams but Millwall are known for being particularly fighty to the point where my parents avoided taking me to games if they were playing when I was a kid. |

Right..so when they were fined for racist chanting against Everton the other year.. was that a political protest too? |

No idea if you support Everton or not but Everton were one of the worst clubs for racist fans 20 years ago(I know because I was there supporting my club home and away) and it's only a year or so when they were reported for homophobic chants against I think it was Chelsea supporters and weren't they reported for having a chant that involved racially stereotyping their own player ?
Maybe they were Political protests or is it different when it's Everton ? |

My trips were often on windy, rainy nights after school on a Tuesday to watch TRFC! We did used to just set off on away road trips at a minute's notice, randomly pitch up at a Travelodge or B&B and hope for the best. One half term, we went to see TRFC at Peterborough and then on to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park and then Charlton Athletic. We stayed in a different dingy B&B each night, explored London etc in between the games, great fun |

What question?
The thread is about millwall
It was suggested that the boos were a political protest but millwall have a long history of racist incidents.
Everton are no Angel's themselves but the thread is specifically about millwall booing the gesture. |

There is racism in society, and only the most oblivious Pollyanna would suggest otherwise. Social issues are the by-product of political decisions.
The lads on the pitch, taking the knee, are calling for social change, not a political one.
It’s hardly political to stand up (or kneel) to show your disgust at people being killed |

Adventures in my Dad's Alfa Romeo were excellent fun. Old Wembley. Oldham Athletic on a freezing cold Tuesday night eating a cone of chips. Absolutely fucking freezing Boxing Day at Blackpool when they were rebuilding and we sat on a scaffold with wooden planks. Stockport County on the terrace on a warm September evening. Legging it from Leeds before we gotta twatted |

I have a soft spot for the terraces. You often feel so much more part of things than when boxed into plastic seats with the pitch so far away. |

I remember last season watching Forset Millwall with my ex gfs dad and her brother , they love their football violence and we was in a forest bar and about half a dozen or so Millwall fans jumped in swinging at every bloke possible until one of them swung at this 6ft plus skin head who didn't move a inch he grabbed him by the throat and hit him with so many lefts he was begging for a right , the rest of them legged it out the boozer quicker than Usain bolt and left there boy in a bloody mess (literally) unfortunately it seems the late 80s early 90s days are coming back |
