It also shows the difference between Hamilton and Russell. One constantly moaning during the race and only happy when the race ends, the other, happy as Larry, positive for the vast majority the race and kept at it when all seemed lost. I would have loved to see George win but Perez on the top step was still very good. |

George was absolutely brilliant. Rare mistake from Mercedes then when he looked to recover it with some brilliant overtaking, got very unlucky.
2022 watch out! He should be proud.
Ps well done Perez. Hope to see him in a red bull next season. Well deserved. |

Put it this way, if he had of won everyone would be saying why do you need Lewis. He's out of contract soon too.
This debacle has only thrown fuel on the fire for the car over the driver argument. |

on the road to nowhere in particular |
"Has to have been one of the best races in F1. First lap crashes, underdog leading, pitstop fuck-up's, clawbacks, Perez with his first F1 as he's teamless next year"
He might get George’s seat after that race |

This thread was a stimulating read inn the wee hours of the night, albeit I had no clue what you're talking about....although I have been to two F1 races.
The excitement and disappointment above is palpable. |

Theirs an argument that if Lewis were in the car that debacle at the pits wouldn’t have happened! He brings an air of calm to the whole team as he’s so astute at managing races and probably would’ve veto’d any decision to pit when they really didn’t need to!
All ifs and buts though as we’d never know but Russell was superb and showed exactly why he’s so highly regarded by those in the know. Unfortunately though it does also show Bottas isn’t the top class driver who once was
Congrats Checo, fabulous drive after that start and great to have another first time winner in an oh so boring sport |

I thought the same. Someone mentioned that Lewis moans during the race and George did not, well that's the difference. Lewis wants perfection from his team and himself and he's one with his car,George did an amazing job and it wasn't because of the car it was him,he drove well and kept his cool, plus the only other driver who could have pushed him was already out of the race |

This was one race and if you know anything about F1 or any sport you wouldn't be asking why you need Lewis just because George won one race. He's a good assert for the future and Mercedes are not going to let go of Lewis yet coz he's consistent and they need to keep winning. It's like having someone play in Messi's position while he's injured and they do well, you can't start saying we should keep him and let go of Messi |

I was angry at the end of that race....I’ve been waiting to see Russell in a decent car, especially after the end of season tests last year.
Gutted he was robbed of a podium finish, partially by avoidable circumstances. The puncture and the radio failure are just bad luck, but what could be easily argued as an unnecessary pitstop would have avoided the latter. |
