Who gets what?

I have worked full time for nearly 40 years and never got a sausage despite working approx 25 Xmas days.

Self employed so don't tend to get bonuses. Although usually get a bottle of something from contractors. But saying that last year I got a very generous and unexpected few hundred off of a customer. Felt guilty taking it as somepeoole just won't take no for an answer. So as a thank you I spent out on flowers and a bottle of bubbly to give back.

My lot are laying me off on the 18th of December so they don't have to give me holiday pay and taking me back on the 3rd of Jan. Have told them to go fuck themselves and taken a new job for the new year.

As the Christmas do is a no go this year my daughter was given £50 Asda vouchers on top of her £200 Xmas bonus. Think i am in the wrong job

It’s ranged with which job I’m doing. Some are usually a percentage of what revenue I’ve generated over the year.

This year Im in a bit of a stop gap job after a redundancy in March. They wouldn’t even spring for a laptop to allow me to work from home when I had to isolate for two weeks the tight bastards. I just had two weeks unpaid I imagine Christmas bonuses do not exist where I am atm. We’ll see!

Will you not get something this year? I thought all NHS staff were getting £500, but taxed, which is shit.

My old work used to give us a few hundred, but then take us all away a weekend abroad, all expenses paid in January. I miss that!

I've worked in the NHS for over 30yrs for 10 of those we got a Christmas Dinner then for about 3yrs £5, we would put it towards a Xmas do of some kind. In the last 20yrs absolutely nothing. I'd rather the Government didn't do the clapping shite. Ms

The £500 is not an Xmas bonus. It is being given to us by the Scottish goverment for working during the pandemic. Think we get it in March.

“50-70 hour weeks right through lockdown and all we get is a lousy applause.” - My co-worker.

And he’s not wrong. We work hard, look after people who are seriously vulnerable and this year has been so difficult.

Ah I see. I hadn't really looked into it, I thought it was being paid ahead of Xmas. Not that that would have been thanks enough anyway, you definitely deserve a bonus.

1K last year and promotion in January of this year.

Works do fully paid for as well.

Be interesting to see what this year brings.

Not sure what way it works in the UK, but don't forget to claim for tax break for home working at year end.

I’ve never had a Christmas bonus and don’t really get the whole concept.

If I was working for someone I would much rather they paid me a good rate and gave me decent working conditions and a good working environment. Doing small things over and above that which they are required too on an ongoing basis would show me more that they value my contribution to the firm.

Our company treat us really well.

Christmas bonus

Annual on target bonus ( if you put some serious work in the rewards are duly reaped

)

We also get mini quarterly incentives - those are usually gift vouchers

I've got £300 this year, normally it's just a £50 M&S voucher so can't complain. The previous two places I worked at it was usually between £700 - £1500. I do get a tax free £1800 off the army every May though

We usually get a choice of a box of chocs or a (cheap) bottle of plonk. The last chocs I chose were out of date

Much better this year - apparently we're getting £15 in our December wages, in lieu of the choc/plonk and the value of what the company normally puts in for the Christmas party. They suggest we can spend it on a departmental non contact Christmas event. Heaven knows what that would be.....

No actually money but I do get a couple more days holiday and a Xmas night out (not this year though )

There are usually a few bottles from contractors and consultants but they all go into a pot and get raffled.

One year I got 6 bottles. But ended up with none as I didn’t win any in the raffle.... knew I should have kept them in the boot of my car

I did one time when we had to take all the workload of another provider when they got closed down by the CQC but I'm pretty sure that was just because we're a charity so they had to do something with the extra profit. Call me cynical .
