To the point question and for my own info/knowledge and no other reason than I thought this would have been a good opportunity to reduce STI transmission in the swinging community.
Have you been and had a GUM clinic test/or other reliable test, in person or by post, during lockdown?

Why would you get tested then?"
Suggested not met during lockdown ! Doesn’t mean they haven’t before. Always good to be sure!? Have you? |

I did think this a while back, that gonorrhoea should be all but gone in the UK although some that are symptomless like chlamydia and HIV would unlikely reduce. |

"I would never meet someone who I know has tested positive in the past as they’re obviously not careful "
You know you can catch things like Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea from oral?
Very few of us are careful enough to avoid those if we were unlucky enough to meet someone with no symptoms. |

Or that they have been carful, but caught out, and are still being careful by making sure they’re treated. Personally, I think, someone with a positive knows they need to be treated and are more likely to be treated.
I understand your reasoning though. |

On reflection you’re right and it’s unfortunate these things happen but I still wouldn’t risk my own sexual health just for the sake of it. |

I’ve started taking the PrEP I’ve been prescribed in the hope that I’ll get over the queasiness by the time we can meet again.
Part of the criteria to get it is to have a regular test so I’ve been tested several times without having any sex now. |

Just remember that it’s much safter to have sex with someone who is either on PrEP or HIV+undetectable.
As long as they’re medication adherence is good, there is 0% chance of transmission. Whereas someone who gets tested ever three months could show negative on test day and then be infectious for three months. |

Not everything requires bareback for transmission... Nor symptoms... You may carry various STIs without ever knowing... Even with being tested. |

You're not necessarily safer with people just because they haven't previously had a positive test that you know of though, they could have caught something since they were last tested or they might just not disclose they have previously caught something. I'd argue that someone who is open enough to disclose a previous positive test and the steps they've taken once treated to prevent it happening again is possibly a safer person. |

Also true. Herpes for example is not routinely tested for and most people who have it don't know that they do as they don't have symptoms. |

Spot on - in fact I'd almost go so far as to say that given the choice of two people, one who has previously tested positive for a treatable STI and has taken steps to resolve the issue and someone who has never tested - I'd choose the former every time |

I get one very 4 months, it doesn't matter to me where I have been sexually active or not.
I may make that more regular if I'm having more sexual activity though.
I also cease sexual activity and go straight away if someone I've recently had sex with has caught something and told me. This has happened 4 times, luckily for me, I've never caught anything myself.
I put that down to being safe really.
Get checked frequently, particularly if your having sex with multiple partners in a close time frame.
Also, its just good practice and brings you peace of mind. |

So HPV was given to girls at 14-16 (can’t remember exactly when), but boys don’t get it.
So men can pick up the immunity via sex with women and be protected against HPV. Apart from they kinda forget about that section of the community who don’t like sticking their penis in women.

Correct. I’d never meet someone who has never tested as well. It enables me to protect my own sexual health with the choices I make. |

It’s great to see a lot of people do take it seriously and get tested. I know you can get a free test at the GUM clinics but you can also pay for the private route too if you’re worried about going to see the practice.
I’ve done both.
I think, potentially, it would be good idea to have an affiliation via Fabswingers to an online pharmacy so the cost could be reduced maybe?!
The more that get tested the better everyone’s health will hopefully be.
Thanks everyone for the interaction. |

I would be more wary of those that don’t get tested as if they have tested positive in the past I guess they get tested regular now. Those that have been shagging round for 20 years and never test are the once that concern me. Like Lacey says there are many reasons such as condom breakages, oral diseases as well as being cheated on
And in answer to your question OP I was tested early September all fine as usual. |

They don't gain immunity. Just if they're only having sex with vaccinated partners their risk will be incredibly low. |

I only shag people who don't get tested. What idiot would be honest and open enough to admit they'd had a test and found out they'd caught something.
The very fact that they've been for a test shows they're not careful right. |
