Or we talking basketball or the utterly crazy game of murderball? IT's fucking mental, and the advert where the woman talks about not worrying about injuries because she's already broken her back is both humbling and inspiring.

Perky an I had the pleasure of meeting Anne Wafula Strike on Weds, at Perky's daughters Sports Day.

Anne is one of Team GB's paralympic spinters and a real inspiration.

Made me feel rather pathetic about my problems when you see what she has overcome.

This is her web site: www . annestrike . org

And yes, paralympic Basketball scares the shite out of me too......

Thanks for asking. Perky's daughter is severely disabled and and 'sports day' the children at her special school is more a series of activities which are all to do with sensory awareness, not your average egg n spoon race! But J did take a few penalties against Chelmsford City's goalie - and got one past him!!! Ha ha!

Anne's appearance there was more to do with inspiring some of the more able kids and to show them what they can acheive.

any advantage is taken away by the fact he has half legs.

i agree, on principal, he shouldnt be in the olympics BECAUSE he has a disability, and therefore should compete in the paras, BUT seeings as he made the qualifying time, then, for want of a lesser insulting sounding phrase, if he took the selection committee to court, they wouldnt have a leg to stand on.

What I want to know is, if the crazy basket ball players in the wheelchairs used racing tyres, would they get disqualified for cheating???

We had the paralympic gold medallist Liz Johnson do a seminar at our work, amazing dedication and a real inspiration.

I take my hat off to Oscar. the argument will always be there as to whether he is an extraordinarily good athlete with a disability or a mediocre athlete with carbon legs that give an advantage. Personnaly I think he has achieved the qualifying time, so go for it.

The only thing scarier than a 6 foot muscly bloke running right at you with a ball is the same, but in a mess of metal and wheels.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

My family are really excited about having tickets for murder ball. The children have been telling me that they think they paralympics are more inspirational for them.

On the blade runner debate - have you tried using the ones you can get for running shoes? Give it a go and then extend that to running without the advantage of lower legs.

exactly.

IF the carbon blades are an advantage, then runners with 1 leg wouldnt be abel to use them, due to the legs with the blade on working so much more effectively.

and, lets not forget, it would mean EVERY double amputee would be running as fast as mr pisteveryoneoff

little house on the praire

What amazes me is a lot of the paraolygic team members havnt been born disabled its usuall an accident of some sort. To go through all that and learn to live again doing something like sports is amazing

The school sports hall here has disabled sports groups, ive watched them play baseball, im not sure if they are all from the school or whether some are from others, because they have these really upmarket wheel chairs. But when i watch they have two full teams, i didnt think we had tha many young wheel users here. But bloody hell do they go for it lol

That was how the paralympics started - through the rehabilitation of those with spinal injuries treated at Stoke Mandeville. Look at the Back Up Trust and see the challenges they offer people. It is amazing.

It definetly puts my troubles in perspective. There was this lady(think it was a lady) who did the marathon on sticks with artificial legs, think it was going to take her two weeks but what determination

and this is why i cant understand all the furore about jimmy carr saying 'due to all these injuries in afghanistan, we will have an awesome paralympics team'

ok, was a joke, but factually, and knowing squaddies as i do, they would be well up for it.

over 400m oscar is the only runner ever to have his 2nd 200m match his 1st 200m.he has an advantage the longer the race.the carbon generates push and therefor saves him energy to keep going longer.

the ioc ban you if they think you have too much caffien in your system.allowing him is pandering to the p.c brigade.

everyone should have an equal start and this either way is not equal
