Once upon a time, if someone had said they’d got tennis elbow to me, I’d have felt the smallest bit of sympathy, but not much

Now I’ve got it, WOW, it hurts. Just over 7 weeks in and it’s worse if anything.

I have a clamp and I’m doing exercises, but has anyone else had it on here and do you have any tips?

Always go deep on the serve, then on the return aim for their back hand with top spin.

"Frozen shoulder?"

Definitely the elbow. It’s like an electric shock every time I grip something or move

I had it and I've never even played tennis. No tips, sorry. Mine just got better but I don't know how.

I had it for 2 years.

It’s a RSI in its most basic form.

Please, avoid having Hydro cortisone injections, it’s a desperate last measure.

Look at what’s causing it.

I wore an elbow support for over a year and it gradually went away.

You have my sympathy. It’s like toothache. Always there and more painful than people think.

I'd just did self physio and wore a strap at work.

There's plenty of videos on YouTube showing how. Kinda massage across your tendons not with them. With a lot of pressure

I've had it in both arms

Thank you. It’s definitely more painful than I’d ever thought. I’ve read that it can be 6 months to a few years recovery, which is a daunting thought.

There's two American physiotherapists that have a YouTube channel. Can't remember the name of it - but found them the most helpful

You can use ice to block the nerve pain symptoms you are getting. Particularly prior and post your exercises. Keep mobility to try to keep the amount of load you put through the arm and grip low until pain dulls, then gradually build with static muscle hold exercises (isometrics). Depending on your job you can also look at seating position and consider strength around the shoulder and posture in exercise if previously weight training or manual labour role.

Long winded I know but it isn't usually one solitary thing in isolation.

Patience definitely but you will get there.

Boston, Lincolnshire

Dave got tennis elbow - or something similar - from excessive training with a very heavy sword.

Sorted it by taking ibuprofen daily and wearing as sport support constantly for about 3 months.

Best advise - rest and physio ( Bob and Brad physio ) on YouTube is an amazing Channel until NHS physio gets back on track.

Best of luck

Wirral.

Oh I feel for you OP. I have rheumatoid arthritis that regularly affect my shoulder and wrists. Not being able to move them. And the pain!

I'd suggest if it is that bad, get cortisone injection into the joint (targets much better than just in your leg/bum). I have them every year or so, for the last 20 yrs. They don't last as long any more, but the first time it was fantastic. Woke up the next day like a new woman!

And it'll not harm you in any way, as it's likely to "cure" it.

Good luck OP.c

Try looking up a physio on YouTube called Kelly Starrett.

If you Google him & tennis elbow or hot elbow it will bring up a lot of fascia release techniques

You should start by not playing tennis with your elbows. Rackets are the standard for a reason.
