If one of your friends are one of your family asked you to go out on a blind date not knowing the person from Adam they think that he or she is your cup of tea would you take the risk in going or would you tell them to ...

I’ve been on quite a few blind dates and had a great time on all. Sometimes there’s been an attraction/spark others not; but going out having a meal with company is never a bad thing

I think totally blind dates are a thing of the past now, if someone was setting me up and couldn't even show me a FB pic of the person or put me in touch for some whatsapping first, I'd be wary. I also have really different taste in guys to my friends so I don't think I'd trust them to matchmake for me !

Yeah, why the heck not. Meet someone new, pass an evening hopefully pleasantly. A story to tell if not so pleasant

Yeah it’s only a date at the end of the day. If they are not your type you can make a polite exit

Yes, my first long term relationship was a blind date. We lasted 9 years.

He was a friend of the boyfriend my friend was seeing.

If I were at a loose end: why not!

I'm not shy, great listener, can get people to talk without asking personal, intrusive questions...nothing to lose, so yes.

Yes I would but here's the rub....

It's the word 'date' or 'blind' or 'blind date' that are off putting.

Why not ....... you are just going out with two of your mates and their mate.

If sommat happens it happens.

The 'blind date' thing puts a pressure on that's not needed.

If you are meeting them alone ...... it's still better to not view it as a 'date' .....

You are just meeting someone cos you are both at loose ends - simples.

If those loose ends end up doing other things then all well and good.

"Yep, no different to a fab social."

Except you've normally seen their naughty bits first. I think we should normalise this.

Blind dates are so 80s. Not suited for this day and age. Security is key.

This happened to me many years ago when a married couple I know introduced me to a friend of the wife via a blind date.

She was absolutely stunning

We were together for 2 years. So never say never
