Two countries who have a 30 year history of 'bickering', this assassination of the Iranian 'godfather' of nuclear technology will esculate very quickly, espect an Iranian attack on an israeli diplomat very soon

There will be no major escalation as no one besides the israelis want this.
If Iran retaliates it will likely be covertly through their Hezbollah proxies in Lebanon. They have various means at their disposal. The U.S.A. doesn't have the stomach for a large scale escalation either. Especially now. |

In short Iran has said it believes Israel are behind the assassination. John O. Brennann, ex director of CIA during Obama presidency, has tweeted the following
“ This was a criminal act & highly reckless. It risks lethal retaliation & a new round of regional conflict. Iranian leaders would be wise to wait for the return of responsible American leadership on the global stage & to resist the urge to respond against perceived culprits.”

Luckily Iran don't (or its widely believed they don't) have nuclear weapons. On the other side, Israel (assuming it actually is them that carried out the attack) are widely believed to have had nuclear capability for decades but have never used it. For all that Israeli foreign policy stinks and their human rights record is atrocious I'd far rather them having access to nuclear power than Iran.

Meh, Israel have (allegedly) had nuclear power since the 60's and not used it. The Yom Kippur war saw them attacked simultaneously by various other countries on a holy day (Yom Kippur) - they didn't use their nuclear advantage. I cannot say I am convinced that had Iran been a nuclear power since the 60's we would have had the same result.
As I said, Israeli policy stinks, they are in a difficult situation but it is one they've repeatedly made worse for themselves. Given the state of apartheid that exists there they get no sympathy from me but they have - so far - proved themselves to be reliable custodians of nuclear power.

Meh, Israel have (allegedly) had nuclear power since the 60's and not used it.
