Hello All!
Has anyone else seen the 'No Naughty List' advert? I kind of feel that it is a bit close to the wind... Especially the joking about people stockpiling. And why is Santa going on holiday 'naughty'? Are they suggesting that he didn't self isolate on his return?
Anyway, maybe it is just me, but I don't feel entirely comfortable about it.
Thoughts? |

Op I can understand what you mean, but I think the message they are trying to get across is that so many of us have had a very bad year and that we should give ourselves a break and not be too hard on ourselves and just enjoy Christmas.
Doesn't mean that if we are extra naughty that we can blame tesco though |

Gets people talking about it, imprints the brand in your mind. The same was done when french connection was failing and they came out with the FCUK campaign. |

I thought it was funny
Everyone has had a hard year, it’s just a nice way of saying let’s draw a line under it. It also highlights that those that stockpiled were definitely annoying and would make the naughty list if there was one |

As an advertising campaign, it is the next best thing to perfection. It would never have pleased everyone so it went for the cheap shot low blow of subtle controversial material. Because it gets people talking about it which is much better advertisement than anything. It is clear they tried to save on the budget too.
They tried to be different so went the other end of the spectrum, both in subject matter and target audience.
As an advert though I dislike it it, not because of the material itself but I just find it unfunny regardless. |

Tesco are suggesting a fictional character didn’t isolate?! How irresponsible of them. Or were they just trying to find humour in these depressing times? I don’t have the energy to over-analyse these things, I just like things that make me laugh.
