Only in certain country do people kill each other for sales one day after being thankful for what they already have....

Not buying a thing this year either

Yerz... It's all seems a bit flat this year...

Don't think the Yanks will be crowding the shops tomorrow somehow... Don't blame them...

Endless consumerism will be the death of humanity. Not a comet or a pandemic, just voracious appetites for more stuff. We'll literally eat ourselves out of house and home. That's my view of black Friday.

I am available for children's parties btw.

Haha I guess our Boxing Day sales is kinda our equivalent? Otherwise polite human beings elbowing each other in the face to grab that bargain! I have a feeling once Pandemic forgotten, we'll be buying shitloads of stuff from China again...

When I first heard about Black Friday on the news, I thought it was a day mourning deaths of shoppers by trampling, because that's what made it to the news when I was a kid. For some reason in America people died while shopping?

... I wasn't very old

North Bucks

Read yesterday most of the stuff is usually on offer for the same price or cheaper at other times of the year.

I don’t doubt there are genuine bargains but other than some Ombré Nomade I managed to bag already I’m sitting it out. Unless I can find some shoes I like.

.

I bought a new lingerie set from Playful Promises that was 60% off - I'd really wanted it before but couldn't justify it. At less than half the original price I didn't feel too bad.

Hilarious! Not sure if you're being serious!????

I normally holiday in US for around 10 days straddling Thanksgiving but not this year obvs...

I asked the Yanks why it's called Black Friday and apparently it's because the retailers are testing out consumers a month before Xmas, hoping to be in the "black" rather than the "red" in accounting speak...

There and to the left a bit

Had an email from Lovehoney advertising their Black Friday deals which if you link to their site from the home page here you get another 16% off on top - not that I shall be buying anything but if it's of any use to anyone else

I've never been to the sales, I know I couldn't cope mentally. I don't shop. I buy. I use military precision to get whatever it is I want and get out as fast as possible. If I say I'm going window shopping expect to come home with a window.

Amazon have some Alexa / echo stuff on special, but only worth it if you're buying it anyway.

I think their ring door bells etc are reduced too.

Haha is it true in French, they say "licking the window" rather than window shopping!

You and my bf must be brothers separated... I can't stand going shopping with him... He gets so bored and I feel pressurised to rush! When rugby season is on, I leave him in front of telly and go shopping! Blissssss... Oh that's a nice blouse...!

Correct. It’s the first time all year many us retailers used to go into profit. Basically our Boxing Day to their thanksgiving.

I've got a Google hub and two Google mini's in different rooms! I love it... Tho sometimes spooky because I talk about something one day, and the next day there are loads of YouTube recommend videos on that topic!

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I'm just hoping you don't work in like a department store as you'll be shut in lockdown? But if you're retail essential, food etc then you're ok?

Yeah, I think that, when I bag that 70% off bargain (something I do need as well as want), "who would pay the full price?"
