Stress depends on what kind for me, work yeah can cope with that easy as pie. Trying to get everyone out the house in the morning is like herding cats. That's a kind of stres I can do without

Depends on my mental health.

If it’s good then yeah, I can cope with almost anything.

If it’s wobbly then all it takes is a bit of spilt milk and I’m a woman on the edge and I feel overwhelmed.

Yup, I cope well under pressure at work. I work at one of the biggest Nurseries in the Midlands and it is fast paced, high stress environment and you have to be two steps ahead at every level whilst preparing for the next challenge

Covid has thrown in a curveball but now are getting into routine with it all

I love my job! Not sure I could function in a smaller environment

There and to the left a bit

Definitely - am very much a "get on with it" type regardless of the situation - may need some downtime to recover once I am past it but will keep on in spite of whatever the cause of the stress may be

It depends what's caused the stress.

Some people are coping with almost unbearable stress due to financial worries, that isn't nice and not something that's easily coped with.

This weekend is the most stressful of the year, as it’s Black Friday. We are under pressure from the Friday to Monday when it gets back to some sort of normality. Tonight will be the last time that I work only 8 hours.

The most stressful part is not knowing what time you’ll finish. But I must admit the overtime is useful.

So stress with rewards I’m fine with

Short term stress I deal with well. Long term stress grinds me down and I don't have the mental strength to cope.

At work I like a bit of chaos, I love a good challenge and like to have a bit of adrenaline flowing. When stress-filled days and weeks turn into months (or in my current situation over a year now) I find it difficult to manage my mental health and I fall back on some very unhelpful coping strategies.

Work stress is okay, I'm realistic with deadlines and happy to say no when asked to do the unrealistic.

Personal life is different, I'm stressed at the moment and don't really have my usual releases available. I go quiet, withdraw and then meltdown

Thats like saying how long is a piece of string!

It surely depends on type, longevity, impact, current emotional state, resultant fall out, futility of situation.

I try not to get stressed over things that me being stressed about them will make no difference to the thing.

Work stress can be good, challenges the brain, but financial stress no.

So many different types of stress out there.

The type you are referring to, not so much, I like to get ready at a slow pace and if i rush, i sweat, then makeup melts and that stress is not fun

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

It depends on the stress. The kind of situation you mention, Shag, I wouldn't call stress. I'd call it pressure. And I'm very good under pressure.

Stress, however, completely screws me up. My digestive system shuts down so I can't actually eat anything without being very sick (although drinking is fine weirdly) and my anxiety goes through the roof, giving me more frequent panic attacks and depression.

I’ve never been good at coping with stress I’m not sure why but I tend to freak out and zone out ..I have been told by doctors etc that it’s a coping mechanism for something that happened in my childhood but it’s not as I had a great childhood so maybe it’s just the way my brain is wired..

Work "stress" or being under pressure as i prefer to call it. Hell yeah give me the pressure anyday. I thrive on it. Being in shopfitting we have extremely tight deadlines that cannot be extended at any cost. Love it

Being a firm believer in good time keeping and punctuality put me in a traffic jam or get me lost and you can fuck right off. Total utter fucking melt down.

I used to be really good, nothing was too much to handle but then I had a bit of a breakdown. Now I forget that I'm not my old self until I catch myself slipping back into the feelings/thoughts/emotions of that time. Then I know I either need more sleep or less stress or preferably both. Slowly getting better though 4 years on and I can handle a lot more than 2 years ago. Maybe one day I'll get back where I was.

Deadline type stress I work well under as in I have to feel the deadline straining at me before I can jump into action and complete something. Other peoples stress I can be a rock and calmly help motivate and organise. My own I usually again wait until the very last minute to explode or deal with it. So depends

Work wise I would say I like to be busy rather than stress. In my own life I don’t deal well with stress, I block out and dig my head in the sand

It depends as I can really thrive under it. I've got to realise that I can often enjoy things and be healthier without stress though, so I organise it out. My best mode is calm. Stress is addictive - don't get hooked, mistaking it for the best excitement you can have

Depends on what you classify as stress. I am a dab hand at dealing with monumental hurdles in life but completely stress cooking for a large # of people! Go figure.

Tbh... it’s a sneaky little thing that affects you in so many different ways. My recent discovery was blood pressure that was making me feel terrible. It’s all under control now but when you feel bad as many do you really need to take stock and make changes!

It depends on the level of stress, how it presents itself and where it's coming from

I am great in a crisis - I am pragmatic as opposed to emotional and can normally find a way through the trees, be it by carefully trodden path or by bulldozer

I had 20+ years of stress in my work life and chose to get off the merry go round just over two years ago, as it had begun to affect my mental well being

That wasn't a crisis though, it was just a constant and wearing grinding down of energies and was largely a feature of the industries in which I worked - it wasn't just me, I saw one Director have a full breakdown and another go into counselling

They drove my decision to get out before the same happened to me

Currently, I am on edge, but that is based on fear and dread as opposed to stress

Thankfully, I have a very supportive partner and a good (if small) network of close friends

Being here helps too, it allows me to remove myself from real life for short periods and that allows the brain to reset and the body to relax

"I am. I like it and infact I thrive under it. I like the rush you get as have to get ready in the last minute as you get ready to pack all your things before going out "

All relative to the type of stress.

Work - piece of cake, drives you on. Always looking for the next challenge.

If however like a lot of people at this time you are working from home AND have small children to mind and keep occupied at the same time, I imagine this may be hugely stressful for parents.

Finacial stress would be completely different with each one requiring their own means of dealing with it.

As I say, this will not be the same for everyone in the same way so there is no definite answer to this.

There’s different kinds of stress, it’s a lot more subtle than that.

Ok stress, OP

You need to think...

I was always good under stress ( so I thought)

But, in truth it made me agressive and caused me to become very very ill.

Stress is a silent killer, bragging about how wonderfully you cope with stress...

Not a good idea!!
